About us
Think about literally anything in your house. Your shirt. Your phone. That random IKEA wrench thingamabob you still haven’t thrown away. Odds are, it all came from somewhere else. Freight is the invisible magic trick that makes the global economy work. And we’re the ones helping it work a little bit faster, smarter, and cheaper.
Freightos (Nasdaq: CRGO) is the global booking and payment platform for the trillion-dollar freight industry. Hundreds of airlines and ocean liners, thousands of freight companies, and over ten thousand importers and exporters use our platform to move goods around the world faster and more efficiently. This matters. Efficient freight ultimately makes things cost a little bit less when you buy them in the store.
We’ve been on a rocketship (freight ship?) of double-digit growth for years, and we’re nowhere near done.
About the role
While we help the world move, we need to make sure we cross our t’s and dot our i’s. So we’re looking for a talented attorney who can juggle several balls at once (dare we say chainsaws?) and bring creative legal and business solutions to some of our biggest opportunities.
The road to your success in the role relies on great communication and organization skills mixed with the ability to go with the flow, desire to learn quickly, an impressive Duolingo streak (nice to have, but we’re willing to let that one go), the ability to think creatively and assertiveness (with tact). You’ll work with both internal stakeholders (see, we do use fancy business words too) as well as partners and customers to draft and negotiate commercial agreements, while advising business partners on opportunities, risk, and whether their virtual Zoom background is kinda “eh”. All because you understand that we are in business to provide services that our customers need and love.
You will work with cross-functional teams, from geeky accountants to high-powered sales people, self-centered marketers who entertain themselves by throwing lines like these into job descriptions, HR professionals with incredibly high EQ’s, external counsel, sometimes with much lower EQ, and customer service associates to help ensure that the company acts ethically and legally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and efficient legal advice to management, sales, product development, marketing, and finance teams. You can even advise them on whether to use roman numerals in lists or not. We hope you stick with not.
- Be primary point of contact for our talented and diverse HR team in multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage and negotiate agreements with customers, vendors, business partners, and other parties, including terms of use, license agreements, and other contracts. We get to do this with some of the world’s largest companies in the world so yes, your LinkedIn will be impressive.
- Ensure compliance with global legal and regulatory requirements, such as data privacy and, well, the law.
- Assist with developing and overseeing company policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs.
- If a contract is negotiated and lost, is it really a contract? You’ll help us stay on top of our game by maintaining and improving systems and workflows, use data in our legal department, including by owning our contract management database.
- Stay up-to-date on legal developments and conduct legal research.
- Assist with statutory filings, licensing forms, company registration, trademarks and legal name changes of our pet fish. Obligatory disclaimer: we do not yet have any pet fish. However you will be primarily responsible for keeping your bamboo plant alive.
- Liaise with outside counsel regarding their assignments.
- At least 3 years of legal practice: commercial or corporate law at a law firm or inhouse
- Qualified to practice law in Israel (including fluency in Hebrew)
- Experience working with or in a technology company is a definite plus; using Gmail doesn’t really count, but making effective and efficient use of AI tools is a must
- Understanding of legal issues and business needs and how to balance them
- Organized, meticulous, insightful, practical, and deeply in love with most Pixar movies (the key is “most”)
- Ability to execute in a cross-organizational role with a can-do collaborative approach
- Fast learner who can read up on new areas of law and provide confident, well‑reasoned, business‑oriented guidance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
General:
- Reports to: General Counsel
- Location: Modiin (hybrid work model)
- Employment: Full-time position, maternity leave cover (7-month contract)
