Role Overview:
The Retail Annuity (RA) Pricing team plays a critical role in shaping New York Life's retail annuity strategy and financial performance. As the lead pricing actuary for the RA Product Development portfolio, you will partner closely with senior leaders across Retail Annuities, Finance, and Investments to drive product innovation, profitability, and long-term business growth. In this role, you will lead a team of 3-4 actuaries and actuarial trainees while overseeing the design, pricing, and implementation of innovative retail annuity products. You will collaborate across the enterprise to develop competitive product strategies, influence key business decisions, and deliver solutions that create value for both customers and the company.

Salary Range: $200,000-$250,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.

As the lead pricing actuary for the RA Product Development portfolio, you will partner closely with senior leaders across Retail Annuities, Finance, and Investments to drive product innovation, profitability, and long-term business growth. In this role, you will lead a team of 3-4 actuaries and actuarial trainees while overseeing the design, pricing, and implementation of innovative retail annuity products. You will collaborate across the enterprise to develop competitive product strategies, influence key business decisions, and deliver solutions that create value for both customers and the company.
What You'll Do:
- Own the Product Development and Pricing portfolio, partnering with stakeholders across the Retail Annuity business, Finance, and Investments to evaluate opportunities, assess financial implications, and support strategic decision-making.
- Lead the design, modeling, pricing, and implementation of retail annuity products, including Fixed Deferred Annuities, Fixed Indexed Annuities, Income Annuities (participating and non-participating), and Variable Annuities.
- Drive product strategy from concept through implementation, balancing customer value, profitability, risk management, and operational considerations.
- Collaborate with our modeling center of excellence and modernization teams to enhance pricing models and advance enterprise modeling and AI capabilities.
- Oversee key pricing operations supporting the Product Development portfolio, including assumption development, model governance, financial impact analyses, and implementation support.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance pricing efficiency, scalability, governance, and analytical rigor.
- Monitor competitive market trends and the evolving regulatory landscape to ensure compliant and competitive product offerings.
- Present findings, recommendations, and business insights to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a team of actuarial professionals by providing coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field
- 10+ years of actuarial experience, preferably in insurance, financial services, or consulting
- FSA credentials required
- Actuarial modeling experience required
- Experience with Prophet actuarial modeling software is preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading actuarial teams and developing talent
- Strong knowledge of retail annuity products, pricing methodologies, and product development processes.
- Experience collaborating across business functions and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Experience with Python, Codex, Tableau, GitHub, Databricks, or related tools is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business recommendations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead complex initiatives, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
- Strategic thinker with a demonstrated commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
