As part of Technology, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking initiatives that shape New York Life's digital landscape. Leverage cutting-edge technologies like Generative AI to increase productivity, streamline processes, and create seamless experiences for clients, agents, and employees. Your expertise fuels innovation, agility, and growth - driving the company's success
Role Overview:
The IAM Engineer will play a key role in designing, engineering, and maintaining NYL's Identity & Access Management solutions across all IAM domains: Identity Governance & Administration (IGA), Privileged Access Management (PAM), Directory Services, and Web Access Management (WAM). This role blends hands-on engineering with solution architecture, ensuring IAM capabilities are robust, scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
As NYL moves toward an AI-enabled enterprise, the IAM Engineer will also help adapt identity services to meet a new class of challenges: managing non-human identities at scale, securing AI models and agents as first-class identities, governing access to sensitive data fueling AI, and defending against AI-driven fraud and abuse. The successful candidate will be curious, adaptable, and ready to evolve IAM for a future where identity is the foundation of both human and machine trust.
What You'll Do:• Engineer, configure, and maintain IAM solutions across IGA, PAM, Directory, and WAM domains.• Collaborate with architecture teams to design IAM solutions that integrate securely with on-premises and cloud applications (AWS, SaaS, hybrid models).• Develop and maintain workflows, connectors, policies, and scripts to automate identity lifecycle and access management processes.• Integrate IAM solutions with enterprise authentication and authorization frameworks, including MFA, password less authentication, and emerging NHI standards (e.g., SPIFFE, DCR, PKCE).• Partner with Information Security, Application, and Infrastructure teams to ensure IAM solutions meet security, compliance, and audit requirements.• Troubleshoot and resolve complex IAM-related incidents, performance issues, and integration challenges.• Support roadmap delivery for IAM initiatives, including cloud adoption, Zero Trust enablement, and modernization of legacy IAM services.• Contribute to solution design reviews, platform upgrades, and security hardening initiatives.
What You'll Bring:• Identity Threat Defense: Engineer IAM controls to mitigate AI-driven risks, including synthetic identity creation, credential-stuffing with AI automation, deepfake impersonation in identity proofing, and adaptive MFA bypasses.• AI/ML Integration: Design and deploy AI/ML-driven capabilities for anomaly detection, risk scoring, intelligent access certification, and adaptive authentication.• Non-Human Identity (NHI) Management: Build lifecycle governance for service accounts, APIs, bots, and autonomous AI agents; implement just-in-time provisioning and least-privilege enforcement.• AI Model & Agent Governance: Treat AI models and agents as privileged entities; engineer role-based and attribute-based controls for who (or what) can invoke, train, or query AI models.• Data Access for AI: Integrate IAM with data governance frameworks to enforce fine-grained entitlements for datasets feeding AI/ML pipelines, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., privacy, explainability).• Trust Frameworks: Participate in defining federated trust models for AI ecosystems (e.g., cross-enterprise identity assertions, machine-to-machine federation, attestations for AI supply chains).• Automation at Scale: Build automation scripts (Python, PowerShell, Java) to integrate IAM with AI operations and security orchestration platforms.• Continuous Innovation: Stay engaged with emerging standards (e.g., FIDO2 passkeys, verifiable credentials, decentralized identity, AI transparency frameworks) and introduce concepts to strengthen IAM's role in AI risk management.
