Role Overview:
New York Life is seeking a dynamic and experienced marketer to shape and drive go-to-market strategies for its Protection Solutions portfolio, including Life Insurance, Individual Disability Insurance, and Long-Term Care Insurance. This role will serve as a senior strategic marketing partner to the protection lines of business, responsible for translating business, product, and distribution priorities into integrated marketing strategies that strengthen New York Life's position in the market, support our sales force, deepen consumer engagement, and drive business growth.
This individual will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies across the protection portfolio, including product positioning and value propositions, targeted campaigns, consumer-facing marketing collateral, product launches, and sales enablement programs. This role requires a strong ability to understand complex financial and insurance products and translate them into clear, compelling marketing strategies and messages that resonate with consumers and enable effective sales conversations.
The Product Solutions Senior Marketing Manager will serve as a strategic marketing partner with both the product development and sales teams, bringing marketing expertise, consumer and market insights, and a strong point of view on how New York Life can most effectively bring its protection solutions to market.
The ideal candidate brings significant financial services marketing experience, with life insurance or broader protection-product marketing experience strongly preferred, as well as demonstrated success developing and executing marketing strategies in a complex, highly regulated organization.
This is a dynamic role for an experienced marketer who combines strategic thinking with the ability to drive hands-on execution, operates with a high degree of independence and ownership, and is skilled at influencing and aligning stakeholders across a complex organization.
What You'll Do:
• Lead the development and execution of comprehensive go-to-market strategies across New York Life's Protection Solutions portfolio, including Life Insurance, Individual Disability Insurance, and Long-Term Care Insurance.
• Serve as a senior strategic marketing partner and thought partner to Protection Solutions leadership, product teams, and sales and distribution partners, bringing a
strong marketing perspective to business priorities, growth opportunities, and go-to-market decisions.
• Translate business and product priorities into integrated marketing strategies and programs designed to increase awareness, engagement, consideration, and sales across New York Life's protection solutions.
• Develop compelling product positioning, messaging, value propositions, and consumer-facing collateral that simplify complex protection concepts, articulate New York Life's differentiated value, and help consumers understand how protection solutions address important financial needs.
• Develop and execute targeted, integrated marketing campaigns across appropriate channels and audience segments, leveraging consumer insights, financial needs, life events, and other relevant segmentation opportunities.
• Partner closely with product teams on new product launches, product enhancements, pricing or feature changes, and other key business initiatives, developing the marketing strategy and driving a coordinated approach from planning through market activation.
• Collaborate with sales and distribution partners to understand field needs and develop marketing programs, content, tools, and sales enablement strategies that help drive product adoption and support productive client conversations.
• Bring a strong consumer, market, and competitive perspective to the business, using consumer insights, category trends, competitive activity, and emerging marketing practices to identify opportunities and inform marketing recommendations.
• Partner across Marketing and with product, sales, distribution, digital, legal, compliance, analytics, and other cross-functional teams to drive initiatives from strategy through execution, ensuring programs are aligned to business priorities and effectively delivered.
• Establish clear objectives and measures of success for key marketing initiatives, using performance data and insights to optimize programs, inform future strategies, and demonstrate business impact.
What You'll Bring:
• 10+ years of marketing experience, with significant experience in financial services, insurance, or another complex and highly regulated industry.
• Experience in life insurance marketing strongly preferred; experience across life insurance, disability insurance, long-term care insurance, or other protection-oriented financial products is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies for financial products, including product launches, campaigns, positioning, messaging, and ongoing product marketing.
• Strong understanding of consumer marketing, with experience developing targeted campaigns, content, collateral, positioning, and value propositions that make complex products understandable, relevant, and compelling.
• Experience partnering closely with product management, sales, and distribution organizations, with a strong understanding of how marketing can support consumer engagement, sales effectiveness, and business growth.
• Proven ability to operate as a senior individual contributor, independently owning complex initiatives and building strong relationships with and influencing senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
• Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to use consumer insights, market intelligence, competitive information, and performance data to inform marketing strategies and connect marketing activity to measurable business outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts and develop clear, compelling, audience-focused messaging.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive work from strategy through execution with a high degree of independence, initiative, judgment, and accountability.
