Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Cost Segregation Senior Manager/Principal to join our growing Forensic & Valuation Services Team. This role may be based in any of Withum's East Coast or West Coast offices and offers the opportunity to build and lead a national Cost Segregation practice. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in cost segregation with strong leadership, operational, and business development capabilities.
Our Cost Segregation professionals help clients maximize tax savings opportunities through engineering-based analyses of commercial, residential, manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, and other real estate assets. This role offers significant client exposure, opportunities for professional growth, and the ability to contribute to one of the firm's expanding specialty practices.
As a strategic leader within the Forensic & Valuation Services Group, this individual will be responsible for driving market growth, developing scalable processes, leading business development initiatives, mentoring team members, and collaborating with firm leadership to expand service offerings and client relationships nationwide.
How You'll Spend Your Time
Practice Leadership & Business Development
Developing and executing a national growth strategy for Cost Segregation services.
Collaborating with regional, industry, and national leadership teams to identify and prioritize market opportunities.
Driving expansion and penetration within strategic tax clients and target markets.
Partnering with Tax Partners and Client Service Leaders to position Withum for success in competitive opportunities.
Maintaining active participation in business development initiatives, including pipeline management and opportunity tracking.
Tracking, managing, and reporting business development activities and booked revenue through firm-approved processes and systems.
Building and maintaining relationships with clients, referral sources, and industry organizations to support growth objectives.
Cost Segregation Technical Responsibilities
Leading and managing all aspects of cost segregation engagements from opportunity assessment through final delivery.
Performing and reviewing cost segregation studies for commercial and residential properties.
Analyzing potential projects and advise clients regarding the appropriateness and benefits of cost segregation services.
Researching and documenting applicable tax laws, regulations, and IRS guidance.
Providing strategic tax planning recommendations designed to maximize deductions, reduce tax liability, and improve client cash flow.
Identifying additional tax-saving opportunities and value-added services for clients.
Staying current on legislative, regulatory, and industry developments impacting cost segregation and related tax incentives.
Operational Excellence & Team Development
Developing and implementing best-in-class processes, procedures, and methodologies for delivering cost segregation services.
Establishing and managing quality control standards across engagements.
Creating scalable operating procedures and training materials to support future growth.
Recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of cost segregation professionals.
Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and exceptional client service.
Leading cross-functional teams and coordinating resources across service lines to support client needs and growth initiatives.
Serving as a subject matter expert and resource to firm leadership and team members regarding cost segregation strategies and opportunities.
The Kind of People We Want to Talk to
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
Master's degree, MBA, CPA, or other relevant professional credential preferred.
10+ years of experience in cost segregation, tax consulting, engineering-based tax services, or related field.
Proven experience leading and growing a professional services practice or business unit.
Demonstrated expertise in cost segregation methodologies, tangible property regulations, and depreciation strategies.
Strong business development experience with a track record of generating revenue growth.
Experience building, mentoring, and managing teams.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and client communication skills.
Experience developing operational processes and implementing best practices.
Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership across multiple geographic markets.

The compensation for this position ranges from $150,000-$350,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual’s skills, experience and qualifications.
