Job Description:
Our Forensic & Valuation Services team is seeking a Cost Segregation Supervisor to join our growing practice. The Supervisor can be based out of any of our U.S. office locations (New York, NY; Buffalo, NY; Rochester, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Boston, MA; Braintree, MA; Burlington, MA; Princeton, NJ; Whippany, NJ; East Brunswick NJ; Red Bank, NJ; Providence, RI; Columbia, MD; Tysons Corner, VA; Nashville, TN; Boca Raton, FL; Orlando, FL; San Diego, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Orange County, CA; San Francisco, CA; San Ramon, CA; Portland; Seattle, WA). The in-office expectation is a hybrid schedule (3 days in office expectation per week).
As a Cost Segregation Supervisor, you will report directly to the leader of the Cost Segregation practice and play a key role in managing engagements, developing team members, and delivering exceptional client service. You will work alongside an integrated team of seasoned professionals and industry leaders, overseeing all phases of cost segregation studies while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and a mentor to staff.
Our Cost Segregation team helps clients maximize tax savings opportunities through engineering-based analyses of commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, and mixed-use real estate assets. How you'll spend your time:
Managing multiple cost segregation engagements from planning through final delivery
Supervising, reviewing, and mentoring associates and senior associates to ensure quality and accuracy of work product
Conducting and overseeing property site inspections to document building components and support IRS-compliant classifications
Reviewing construction cost documentation, general ledgers, contractor payment applications, and other financial records
Analyzing blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications to support asset classifications and cost allocations
Preparing and reviewing engineering-based cost segregation reports and supporting schedules
Collaborating with tax, valuation, and real estate professionals to provide integrated client solutions
Building and maintaining strong client relationships through proactive communication and responsive service
Managing engagement budgets, timelines, and client expectations to ensure successful project completion
Assisting with practice development initiatives, proposal development, and identifying opportunities for additional services

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of experience in cost segregation, construction estimating, engineering, real estate valuation, or a related field
Pursuit of CPA, EA, CCSP, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
Strong knowledge of IRS cost segregation guidance, tax depreciation methodologies, and relevant tax authorities
Advanced understanding of construction methods, building systems, and asset classification principles
Experience reviewing and supervising engagement teams and managing multiple concurrent projects
Knowledge of real estate appraisals, valuations, and property cost allocation methodologies
Strong proficiency with RS Means, Marshall & Swift, Planswift, or similar estimating software
Excellent analytical, project management, and organizational skills
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Ability to travel approximately 25% of the year
The compensation for this position ranges from $100,000-$130,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
