Job Description

The Creative Services Graphic Design Coordinator is responsible for system-wide creative execution and implementation for Shriners Children’s. This position will produce visual solutions that reflect both organizational and project goals. This individual must be self-motivated and possess the ability to produce quality output in a fast-paced and demanding role. The Creative Services Graphic Design Coordinator must be able to manage multiple projects at one time to meet aggressive deadlines, while upholding quality and paying attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Design:

  • Deliver creative products/projects that achieve the intended marketing and organizational goals. Ideas should be innovative and effective for the intended medium. When possible, deliverables should be optimized for system-wide use and distribution.

  • Design projects such as newsletters, logos, advertisements, brochures, posters, folders, and other marketing collateral materials. Materials are produced for system locations in multiple languages and are to be updated as content and visuals change.

  • Collaborate seamlessly across departments to develop branding concepts and produce marketing materials.

  • Provide digital graphic design and layout for print, video and web applications using graphic design software. Think creatively and consistently develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts.

  • Ability to prepare rough drafts and professionally present ideas. Amend designs to include stakeholder feedback and gain full approval.

  • Ensure that project accuracy and quality are upheld.

  • Determine project specifications for print production. Comfortable acting as a liaison between the design team and the print shop at HQ or other print vendors. Able to troubleshoot printing and production issues with the design team, MarCom staff, other departments and internal or external print vendors.

  • Develop suites of materials for specific campaigns throughout various mediums that are appropriate and targeted to the campaign goals.

  • Contribute to effective design strategies by producing artwork to assist in the promotional and public-relations efforts of the healthcare locations and the fraternity (as applicable for fraternal allocation).

  • Design instructional and informational print media and collateral to facilitate better communication between the medical staff and healthcare professionals at the system locations and patients and parents.

  • Assist in the production of presentation graphics and research posters for national meetings.

  • Manipulate photographic images through retouching, color correction, sizing, special effects, etc. in line with our brand standards.

  • Ensure that all necessary reviews are completed for collateral and that all proper approvals are obtained before distributing final collateral materials.

Creative Standards Management:

  • Uphold and maintain the visual identity and brand standards for Shriners Children’s and Shriners International.

  • Ensure identity standards stay relevant to organizational values, goals, and

  • objectives 

  • Uphold the integrity of our brands by maintaining unity and consistency of creative tone.   

  • Develop and distribute sets of brand assets that are location and program specific for system-wide use.

  • Work with headquarters staff, Shriners Children’s location staff, Shriners International staff and members, and vendors to ensure that our visual identity is properly communicated and utilized.

  • Provide proper brand standard education and instruction to staff at headquarters, staff on location throughout the Shriners Children’s (and Shriners International, as applicable) network, and to vendors and affiliated third parties as appropriate.

Design Team Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of design team function and workflows.

  • Stay current, participate in, and actively seek learning opportunities for design software, platforms and trends.

  • Communication is open, professional, and positive, promoting teamwork within the design team and with all customers and vendors. Communication is timely, clear, concise and accurate.

  • Participate in department staff meetings, design team meetings, one-on-one touch bases, Performance Improvement activities, required HR learning courses, and other mandatory annual competencies.

  • Follow and support management decisions and seek and accept constructive criticism on projects when appropriate.

  • Show adaptability and flexibility by adjusting to new situations and show willingness to try different ideas.

  • Willingness to accommodate last-minute requests when necessary and handle time management in a manner which maximizes workflow and sets appropriate project priorities/schedules.

  • Finish projects within established parameters and deadlines.

  • Regularly communicates workload and documents projects with supervisor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested willingly and promptly, and with a positive attitude. Reporting when the task is completed, as appropriate.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of associated field experience

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom and Photoshop)

  • Proficient use of Mac products

  • Photo editing skills

  • Experience reviewing printer proofs and performing press checks

  • Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Visual Arts, or Graphic Arts

The pay range for this position is $29.23 - $43.85. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
