Leads creative technology initiatives by building AI agent pipelines, MCP servers, plugins, generative video systems, and voice agents. Designs AI architectures, prototypes emerging technologies, develops scalable creative systems, and optimizes tools and campaigns using tracing and agent analytics. Partners with clients and cross-functional teams, presents to executive stakeholders, mentors team members, and balances brand, audience, business, creative, and technical objectives.
Creative Technology Director
Location: Remote-first (US-based preferred)
Team: AI Content and Creative Technology
Reporting to Group Director, AI Content and Creative Technology, you’ll build agent pipelines, MCP servers, plugins, generative video systems, and voice agents for some of the world’s best-known brands.
You’ll bring deep expertise in generative AI, design, and creative strategy to a dynamic agency environment, independently leading multiple projects and creating work that excels in both creative and technical craft while also driving real business goals. This is a hands-on building role — expect at least 75% of your time to be spent in a repo.
Key Responsibilities:
- Agency Creative Tech Leadership: You’ll balance storytelling with systems thinking to deliver work that is effective and scalable. You’re able to define the vision for AI-powered experiences across multiple projects and can help Addition push the boundaries of what’s possible with machine-assisted tech.
- AI Architecture: A strong point of view on AI engineering architecture. You’re confident in deciding what needs to be a tool call vs. a skill vs. a subagent; when a retrieval beats a bigger prompt; and how to design an eval before building a feature.
- Rapid Prototyping + Experimentation: Track what’s new and possible in the world of generative AI and quickly build working prototypes to pressure test your strategies and/or get buy-in from clients. You instinctually know when the situation calls for a one-file demo, and when to deploy a multi-package monorepo.
- Client + Cross-Functional Partnership: Confidently present both technical possibilities and working software to executive-level clients in a way they can understand.
- Bias Towards Creative Excellence: You build machinery that is accountable to and consistent with real design systems, brand components and retrieved facts, and which never looks like hastily generated slop.
- Performance-Driven Optimization: You have the ability to review the effectiveness of our tools and campaigns and optimize for performance, using both AI-derived insights (LangSmith, tracing, agent-logs/ directories) and qualitative feedback.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 6+ years in design, strategy, product management, or related tech-forward environment. Proven ability to lead accounts or initiatives across multiple clients and verticals. Experience working with Fortune 500 brands or large-scale platforms is a plus.
- Engineering Fluency: Hands-on experience with production-ready tech stacks (Python, TypeScript, agent SDKs, MCP, GCP, etc), as well as the latest in AI models and tooling. Comfortable shaping AI-integrated workflows, and a track record of using them to accelerate, enhance, or rethink how things get done.
- Creative Ops + Systems Thinking: Strong instincts for how to systematize creativity without diminishing it. Experience building scalable frameworks, modular systems, and process design.
- Creative Leadership + Influence: Natural team leader with a collaborative spirit. Equally confident providing oversight to junior team members, influencing cross-functional teams, and presenting to C-suite stakeholders.
- Strategic Acumen: Ability to balance brand, audience, and business objectives with the opportunities (and limits) of emerging technology. You see both the forest and the trees.Portfolio: A rich portfolio of past projects (repos, deployed demos, working agentic systems) that showcase strong tech and creative skills in equal measure.
