Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented.

The Dollar is the best product in the history of the world - there is infinite global demand. But international fintechs and banks are left with two unsatisfying options to choose from: Either build on legacy correspondent banks that are slow and unreliable, or interface with middleware providers that neither move nor hold the dollars directly, but instead rely on underlying legacy banks themselves. At Augustus, we collapse the stack by combining two things: A real, national bank charter (in organization), and Marble, our proprietary core banking system, built around intelligence, made of code.

We are a group of ex-founders, founding employees of unicorns, and people who dropped out of university because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We are backed with more than $200M from Peter Thiel's Valar Ventures, Tiger Global, Hummingbird, QED, Creandum, and the founders of Nubank, Ramp, Deel, Circle, Fluidstack, Fuse, and Etched.

We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe.

The Role

As CDD Analyst at Augustus, you own customer due diligence end to end, from onboarding through periodic and event-driven reviews. You run CIP/CDD on individuals and legal entities, assign customer risk ratings, and run EDD on high-risk customers, complex ownership structures and FBO relationships. You prepare those cases for the High-Risk Customer Review Committee. You report directly to the Deputy BSA Officer.
We’re building an AI native bank, which is designed to run mostly autonomously. Legacy banks scale KYC with people. We scale it with agents, supporting human decisions. You improve the prompts of our review agents, and you work with Engineering and Product to automate onboarding within our regulatory bouunds. Your judgment sets the standard the agents follow. The goal is to make routine cases disappear so your time goes to the ones that matter.

Your First Six Months
  • Months 1-2: Work the queue yourself. Onboard individuals and legal entities end to end: CIP, document review, beneficial ownership certification and risk rating. Learn the Bank’s CRR methodology well enough to see where it’s unclear and where the review agents get it wrong.

  • Months 3-4: Own EDD on high-risk customers, complex ownership structures and FBO relationships. Your cases go to the High-Risk Customer Review Committee ready for a decision, with no rework needed. You’re rewriting agent prompts based on what you see in the queue.

  • Months 5-6: Agents handle standard onboarding and periodic reviews. You take the hard cases, event-driven reviews and exceptions. You work with Engineering and Product on the next onboarding flows to automate, within limits set by Compliance.

Who Will Thrive At Augustus

We believe that throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. We’re building a modern correspondent bank, and we win by having a better team. The people who succeed here share the following traits:

  • American Dream: You’d rather shoot for gold than settle for mediocrity. You pick the harder goal and stay optimistic when the odds are against you. If it feels easy, we aimed too low.

  • Live Player: You don’t need permission. You rebuild what’s broken without being asked, challenge how things are done, and move before the perfect moment.

  • Ever to Excel: You can’t accept good enough and you take your work personally. When it matters, you do what it takes and keep raising the bar for yourself and your team.

  • Genuine: You play for the company, not your title or turf. Low ego, low drama, no politics. You say it straight, also upwards and always assume good intent.

This role is for you if:

  • You reason from first principles. You ask what risk a check covers before you run it, and you drop the steps that don’t cover anything.

  • You don’t trade off customer experience. A clean onboarding is part of good CDD, and you never ask a customer for the same document twice.

  • You work hard. When the queue spikes or a case gets complex, you stay on it until it’s done right.

  • You challenge how things are done. If a process is slow, redundant or wrong, you say so, also upwards, and you bring the fix.

  • You’re diligent. Your files are complete, your reasoning is documented, and they hold up when someone checks them.

This role is not for you if:

  • You want a fixed checklist and a stable process. Ours changes every time the agents get better.

  • You see automation as a threat to your job. Here it is the job.

  • You treat CDD as box-ticking. An examiner may read every rating you set.

  • You need someone else to tell you a file isn’t good enough.

Hard Requirements
  • 2 - 6 years experience. Preferably at a top-tier consultancy (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), a high-bar startup, or as Chief of Staff to a founder.

  • You’ve been promoted or given a bigger scope faster than the standard cycle.

  • You’ve built automations, tools, or workflows that people use today (SQL, scripting, AI tools), not just recommendations.

  • Degree from a top-tier university.

  • Based in New York City and working onsite.

  • Career Growth: You will be given more responsibility and pushed to grow faster than ever before.

  • Network: Your peers are brilliant, highly motivated people. These people will be foundational in your future opportunities.

  • Real Participation: Employees are shareholders. You will think and act like an owner.

  • Perks & Benefits: Relocation support, visa support, the latest Apple gear (MacBook + AirPods), lunch benefit, gym benefit, a beautiful office in the heart of the city, 4x on-/offsites per year, and an annual development budget.

Additional to the global benefits above, we offer localized benefits such as comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan for our US team.
