Job Description

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is currently adding another Cisco Unified Communications Engineer to our IT Telecommunications Department. We value our professionals, providing comprehensive benefits, exciting challenges, and the opportunity for growth.

 

This candidate will perform systems tuning to optimize performance of IPT systems and reduce communication costs and analyzes IPT systems and performance data for purposes of capacity analysis and management. The candidate would need to take responsibility for solution development and integration with other specialized disciplines: network security, wireless networking, and IP telephony.

The candidate will also be an accountable for technical aspects of the platform, supporting complex solutions and ensuring solutions will fit within the network architecture. Keep abreast with advanced Unified Communication technology used by the industry. Assume responsibility for technical studies and make recommendations for products and services covering overall UC platform.

 

You Will:

  • Manage multiple network infrastructure projects and operational tasks concurrently.
  • Configure and maintain LAN, voice and data networks.
  • Install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches.
  • Install and maintain CUCM, CUC, CUE, UCCE and UCCX.
  • Configure and maintain standard QoS templates across all network devices.
  • Provide second support to network operations and service desk teams.
  • Configure and maintain standard QoS templates across all network devices.
  • Provides world class customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Supports and maintains production applications.
  • Processes requests from internal ticketing systems.
  • Provides support for compliance initiatives i.e., SOX.
  • Performs analysis of network needs and contributes to design of network architecture, integration and installation.
  • Installs and maintains local and wide area network hardware and software, network nodes, terminals and wiring.
  • Evaluates local area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.
  • Monitors and maintains network stability and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware augmentations.
  • Communicates and coordinates network schedule, backups and downtime to users.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding data and computer security, policies and procedures.
  • Monitors network traffic performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose complex network problems.
  • Provide end users with network technical support.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM Field or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in lieu of a B.S. degree
  • Demonstrated experience in the area of centralized monitoring, network capacity planning, network performance reporting, network optimization and troubleshooting of enterprise IPT deployments.
  • Experience configuring, implementing and troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications tools.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing security policies and procedures for IPT and video.
  • 2+ years network engineering experience
  • Ability to work independently, ability to define priorities and meet critical deadlines.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge/ Experience with H.323, H248, MGCP and SIP.
  • Knowledge / Experience of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and IP trunking concepts, topology design – VoIP media RTP/RTCP.
  • Experience and solid understanding of data network systems, routing protocol– EIGRP.
  • Knowledge of Signaling Protocols
  • CCNA or CCNP certifications
