OVERVIEW: 

Data Analyst on the Domain Analytics Team, part of M&T’s Customer Insights & Analytics Organization. We provide analytical insights that empower Marketing and Digital Product organizations to drive business growth, strengthen customer relationships, and accelerate digital adoption.  

Our work spans: 

  • Experimentation & Measurement – Designing and analyzing tests to optimize customer acquisition for Retail and Business Banking segments. 
  • Cross-Channel Analytics & Attribution – Understanding how customers interact across channels and identifying what drives engagement. 
  • Digital Journey Analytics – Uncovering insights from web and app behaviors to improve customer experiences. 
  • Digital Product Enablement – Partnering with product teams across the development lifecycle to support new feature launches with data and performance measurement. 
  • Data Products & Ad-Hoc Analysis – Building dashboards and self-service tools, and delivering quick-turn insights to answer business questions. 

The Data Analyst will partner with Digital Product and Technology teams to deliver data products, insights, and scalable reporting solutions that enable data-informed decision-making. This role will support the full digital product lifecycle by measuring performance, monitoring customer engagement, evaluating new features, and providing analytical guidance for both strategic roadmap initiatives and operational priorities. 

LOCATION:

This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring onsite presence four days per week at one of M&T Bank’s regional offices. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to one of the following locations:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Explore, mine, and profile data across multiple datasets to gain and interpret insights for use in dashboards, ad-hoc analysis and analytics products. 
  • Support digital platform modernization initiatives by designing and validating reporting, dashboards, and tracking solutions for migrations to new platforms and data sources. 
  • Collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to translate business questions into analytical solutions.  
  • Support high‑quality analytics delivery by conducting data quality checks, collaborating on data model design, and applying best practices for code documentation and storage. 
  • Develop business intelligence solutions designed to meet business needs.   
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. 
  • Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years related experience 
  • Intermediate SQL, experience querying databases (SQL Server, Snowflake, etc).  
  • Experience working in large databases 
  • Experience with Business Intelligence/Visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: 

  • 1 or more years related work experience in data analysis, bonus if supporting digital product development, operations, or technology organizations. 
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, SAS 
  • Experience with reporting automation (PowerBI, Alteryx) 
  • Experience with one or more cloud databases. 
  • Experience working within an agile environment 

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $94,400.00 - $157,400.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
