The Role

Blue Owl is hiring a Data Operations, Vice President/Principal that will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling data and technology solutions that support reporting, performance measurement, and decision-making across the Blue Owl platform. The role partners closely with engineering and business stakeholders to decompose complex systems, integrate disparate data sources, and deliver production-grade data pipelines from ingestion through output.

With a strong blend of technical depth and business acumen, this role translates financial and operational logic into scalable, automated solutions and supports key investment and fund performance reporting,

Responsibilities

  • Work directly within the Operations team to execute key data and technology initiatives impacting across the Blue Owl platform

  • Integrate discrete systems and functions to drive target reporting outcomes across the business

  • Decompose systems into component parts and build the case for transformation

  • Design and own data pipelines end to end — from ingestion through reconciliation and output

  • Work directly with engineering to build and quickly deploy solutions

  • Translate between business logic and technical implementation without losing fidelity on either side

  • Support reporting of key KPIs related to investment and fund performance

  • Implement tools and automate the calculation of performance metrics for internal and external reporting

  • Manage and develop a small team of analysts as the function grows

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant experience; specific asset management background not required

  • Hands-on fluency with data - SQL, Python, or equivalent; familiarity with modern architectures and technologies

  • A track record of building and improving technical and complex systems, both as a manager and as a builder

  • Experience building or managing data pipelines end to end in production environments

  • Experience in fintech or payments, combining strong financial logic with complex with technical plumbing

  • Background in data engineering, with a pipeline-first mindset, strong systems decomposition skills, and production-grade discipline

  • Exposure to supply chain or logistics environments, designing and operating multi-party systems at scale

  • Experience in defense tech, modernizing legacy systems within compliance-heavy environments

  • Comfort operating in domains you do not initially understand and a willingness to learn

  • Enthusiasm for financial markets

The base annual salary range for this New York-based position will be $150,000 to $200,000. Actual salary offered will be based on the candidate’s skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
