strategy. In this position, you will drive impactful business outcomes through innovative data

science solutions. As a Data Scientist for Optimization, you will lead the execution of

promotions optimization initiatives, develop and communicate strategic business plans, and

remove barriers to performance. Your collaboration with key stakeholders will be essential in

ensuring that business needs are met and that we continuously improve and adapt our

strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Science Application: Identify and leverage data science opportunities across CVS

Health’s retail business, with a focus on promotions, personalization, and front store retail

initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to develop

innovative technical and business approaches, fostering trust and commitment through

Agile methodologies.

Solution Development: Design and implement robust, scalable solutions using machine

learning and statistical methods, generalizing methodologies for broad applications to

achieve business objectives.

Algorithm Development: Create, validate, and deploy algorithms and predictive models

to analyze complex problems, detect patterns, and recommend actionable solutions.

Data Exploration: Analyze and interpret large volumes of structured and unstructured

data to address complex business challenges effectively.

Advanced Analytics: Utilize advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses

to derive insights that inform strategic decision-making.

Data Infrastructure: Develop and maintain data structures and pipelines to organize,

collect, and standardize data, facilitating insights and addressing reporting needs.

Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning

solutions and methodologies to enhance our capabilities.

What You Will Do:

Apply and develop machine learning solutions to create efficient, scalable models that

drive actionable insights from extensive datasets.

Collaborate with business, engineering, and science teams to identify and implement

impactful solutions to complex business problems.

Define and monitor model performance metrics, ensuring alignment with business

impact over time.

Present complex analyses and recommendations to business partners in a clear,

actionable format, influencing strategic decisions.

Develop proof of concepts (PoCs) and transition solutions into production-ready

pipelines and APIs as required by the business. Research and integrate new technologies to enhance existing solutions and address

emerging challenges.

What You Will Bring (Requirements):

A PhD, a Master’s degree with 1+ years, or a Bachelor’s

degree with 2+ years of relevant experience in a STEM field.

Proven experience in analyzing complex problems and translating them into efficient

data science algorithms with a focus on computational efficiency.

Expertise in optimization machine learning techniques, including supervised and

unsupervised learning, forecasting, classification, natural language processing (NLP),

and deep learning.

Strong background in statistical learning, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and

experience with big data technologies.

Proficiency in Python and at least one object-oriented programming language, along

with experience in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

Domain knowledge in retail merchandising and experience managing multiple

stakeholders while effectively communicating data-driven insights.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$86,520.00 - $173,040.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
