The Day Habilitation Manager assists the Day Habilitation Coordinator in the daily operation of the dayhab center including staff supervision, treatment planning and maintenance of the physical plant to ensure quality services to all individuals and assists in maximizing the functioning of developmental disabled adults.

  • Managing DHS work task and assignments with the residence and as it relates to the day to day task in both the dayhab setting within the community.
  • Providing direct assistance to the consumers on a daily basis within an OPWDD DH Program environment.
  • Tracking DH goals and writes daily and monthly notes to file.
  • Providing hand-over-hand care, mentors, teaches independent living skills & role modeling.
  • Assisting in maximizing the functioning of mentally/physically handicapped adults.
  • Ensuring quality services to all individuals within the dayhab setting and in the community.
  • Providing staff supervision and oversight of the dayhab in conjunction with the Day Hab Coordinator or in the absence of the Day Hab Coordinator.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary team on treatment /behavioral plan and with overall care of the individuals within the dayhab.
  • Maintaining scheduling of all medical appointments/ medication records/ and ensure RN/ MD treatment orders are implemented for all individuals.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties by the Day Hab Coordinator that is reasonably related to their job responsibilities.
  • Ensure that all behavioral support plans are met according to the plans.
  • Attend semi-annual, annual and special meetings at schools and/or day treatment programs.
  • Communicate professionally with schools, residences and/or day treatment programs when necessary.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field, preferred

Skills and/or Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in OPWDD related field of which 2 years are in a supervisory capacity within a dayhab setting. Preferably experience in a residential, health or treatment related setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in written, verbal and computational skills to document records in accordance with program standards.
  • Should have the ability to work a flexible schedule if needed to accommodate working with the individuals in the residence and to attend team meetings.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to articulate the company’s philosophy, mission and goals to a varied audience.
  • Ability to effectively present information to clients, top management and staff in verbal and written formats.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to solve practical and intellectual problems utilizing principles of logical thinking.
  • Ability to work within general guidelines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.
  • Ability to recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain such confidences.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to speak clearly and hear the spoken word well.
  • Regularly required to physically operate routine office equipment such as telephones, computers, etc.
  • Regularly required to travel to sites in and outside the company using customary modes of public or private transportation.
  • Regularly required to work long, irregular hours, including second shifts and a varied schedule, including weekends, to accomplish essential functions.
  • Regularly required to utilize near vision ability to read data and documents, including spreadsheets and reports, in printed form and on computer screens.
  • Regularly required to return to work in emergency situations on an on-call basis.
  • Regularly required to physically operate a motor vehicle.
  • Regularly required to provide physical care for clients and consumers, which may include, but is not limited to bathing, feeding, changing clothes or diapers and pushing wheelchairs.
  • Regularly required to physically restrain abusive clients/consumers.

Work Environment:

  • Noise level is consistent with levels usually present in an office, education, rehabilitation, industrial, workshop or health related environment.
