ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Development and Communication Associate, reporting to the Development & Communications Manager, plays a pivotal role in Urban Dove's fundraising, marketing, and communication efforts. This position aims to amplify our organization's reach, engaging donors, funders, and the media. The associate will adeptly convey Urban Dove's narrative to diverse audiences, such as foundations, individual donors, and community stakeholders from within the Charter Management Office (CMO).

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
The Central Office is the non-profit entity that manages the Urban Dove Charter Schools. The CMO provides a wide range of services–including back office functions, accounting, hiring, professional development, data analysis, public relations, advocacy, and more. The CMO is also responsible for providing support structures for the schools and ensuring proper replication of the model as the organization expands.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and coordinate clear, engaging communications that strengthen Urban Dove's brand and effectively engage students, families, staff, alumni, funders, board members, community partners, elected officials, and other key stakeholders.
  • Create and manage compelling content across multiple platforms, including newsletters, email communications, organizational announcements, presentations, marketing materials, and other print and digital publications.
  • Develop, schedule, publish, and monitor content across Urban Dove's social media platforms, working closely with the Leadership Team and school-based staff to highlight student success, school events, staff accomplishments, and organizational impact.
  • Maintain and regularly update Urban Dove's website to ensure content is accurate, timely, visually engaging, and aligned with the organization's branding and strategic priorities.
  • Capture high-quality photography and video at school, after-school, evening, and weekend events, while maintaining a well-organized digital media library for use in communications, fundraising, grant proposals, recruitment, and marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate communications and logistical support for organizational events, including invitations, promotional materials, donor recognition, auction support, photography, event setup and breakdown, and post-event communications.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and present organizational and programmatic data to support communications, grant reporting, fundraising efforts, board presentations, and organizational storytelling.
  • Support the organization's grant development efforts through prospect research, proposal writing, document collection, reporting, and grant tracking in collaboration with the Leadership Team.
  • Maintain an annual communications calendar to ensure timely and coordinated messaging across schools, departments, fundraising initiatives, special events, and organizational campaigns.
  • Ensure consistency of Urban Dove's brand, voice, messaging, and visual identity across all communications, publications, presentations, social media platforms, and marketing materials.
  • Monitor and report on website traffic, social media engagement, and other communications metrics to inform continuous improvement and increase audience engagement.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, community organizations, elected officials, and external partners to increase awareness of Urban Dove's mission, programs, and impact.
  • Support organizational communications during emergencies or time-sensitive situations by assisting with the preparation and dissemination of timely, accurate, and coordinated messaging.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of the Communications, Development, and Leadership Teams.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Compensation: $50,000 to $55,000 annually based on years of experience and education.
