The Planned Giving & Endowments team raises approximately $18 million in future commitments and $35 million in realized planned gifts each year some of which comes from donors in the community who are not engaged through our affinity divisions.  A crucial component of our planned giving efforts is the strategic outreach and engagement of these community donors, through phone calls, meetings and events. The Development Executive (DE) will be responsible for identifying community planned giving prospects, devising an outreach plan, making calls and obtaining meetings with these prospects, developing mailings and coordinating targeted events. Additionally, the Development Executive will collaborate in the identification and engagement of planned giving prospects and serve as a planned giving liaison to the Entertainment, Health Care, Russian, and Young Leaders Divisions, and other divisions as assigned.  The Development Executive plays a key role in building relationships with planned giving donors and prospects through engagement, cultivation, and solicitation and in promoting planned giving throughout the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Solicit planned gifts through face-to-face visits, zoom, phone and written communication
  • Develop and implement outreach plan for community planned giving prospects, designed to foster and nurture meaningful long-term relationships  
  • Collaborate with the Entertainment, Health Care, Lawyers, Russian and Young Leaders Divisions, and other divisions to identify planned giving prospects, engage in legacy conversations and obtain legacy gifts from donors
  • Develop, plan and execute prospecting and stewardship events for the Heritage Society and/or the team overall as needed
  • Use data and research to identify planned giving prospects
  • Make daily calls to planned giving prospects with the goal of building relationships and obtaining in-person meetings
  • Develop targeted mailings to planned giving prospects
  • Record outreach and other activity in database in order to track and measure success in engaging planned giving prospects
  • Personalize donor illustrations on the philanthropic and financial benefits, as well as the tax implications, of charitable gifts
  • Work with prospects and/or existing donors and their advisors on creating bequests, charitable gift annuities, endowments, and life insurance policies
  • Gain knowledge of planned giving vehicles including regular attendance at educational and professional seminars
  • Other assignments as needed or directed by departmental management

Competencies and Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent communication and writing skills necessary
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop a good rapport with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Proactive, creative, and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a demanding work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable working with various databases

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $78,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
