Position Summary:
We are seeking a Remote CAD Design Intern to work closely with our Head Engineer on diverse client projects and internal initiatives. This role is a 12-week paid internship, with the opportunity for full-time employment for outstanding performers. This is a late-day India shift, starting in the afternoon to allow some overlap with US working hours. Candidates with experience in design and an understanding of various manufacturing processes are particularly attractive, as this knowledge is useful when optimizing designs for manufacturability and engaging with manufacturers.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head Engineer to develop and refine 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings.
- Use software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, and Fusion 360 to create designs across various sectors.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, ensuring they align with different manufacturing processes.
- Support internal initiatives related to referring clients to appropriate manufacturers, including supplier research and analysis.
- Prepare design presentations and technical documentation for client projects.
- Participate in client meetings as required to understand project goals and present design updates.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- At least 6 months of hands-on experience with 2D and 3D modeling.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, or Fusion 360.
- Understanding of how design choices interact with various manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Past client experience is a plus, though not required.
