Director of Business Development

Location: Hybrid in New York City (3 day in-office requirement)

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of payments experience; at least 3 years of partnerships experience
  • Thorough understanding of B2B payments, Vertical SaaS models, and strategic creativity to collaborate with internal and external leaders to develop new models for embedded payments solutions
  • A strong track record of leading impactful partnership teams in a product-centric environment with significant internal and external dependencies
  • Broad and deep experience executing industry-wide partnership strategies to build innovative product experiences and go-to-market models
  • Experience negotiating commercial deals with top companies, including scaling such deals across multiple partners
  • Ability to analyze data, track key metrics, and drive performance-based decisions.
  • Strong executive presence, with the proven ability to influence senior leaders internally and externally, including at the C-level
  • An operationally focused mindset, with an ability to lead teams through complex relationship management activities by setting a clear vision and running tight processes

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact: 

  • Pipeline Generation and Lead Development
    • Act as key agent for generating high-potential pipeline opportunities
    • Influence key ecosystems and stakeholders through implementing strategic partnerships within payment services providers, private equity firms and/or VC’s
    • Identify and nurture relevant inbound leads to drive business expansion
  • Closing Vertical SaaS Deals
    • Successfully pitch to various stakeholders with in-depth knowledge of product, market landscape and execution strategies
    • Clearly communicate differentiation from competitors and align finance teams for deal execution
    • Address FAQs and objections with well-crafted responses to ensure smooth deal closures
  • Building and Strengthening Partner Relationships
    • Develop and maintain trust-based, cross-functional relationships within partner organizations
    • Provide insights on workflows, payflows, risk and compliance, operations, and go-to-market strategies
  • Expanding Existing Partnerships
    • Understand the growth agendas of existing partners and proactively shape how our company can support their initiatives
    • Leverage our evolving capabilities to suggest and implement new initiatives that expand and strengthen partnerships
  • Internal Collaboration and Performance Managing
    • Track performance metrics via dashboards and ensure weekly updates on key operational interventions
    • Act as a fact-driven internal collaborator to resolve issues based on strong partner relationships
    • Work cross-functionally to align business development strategies with overall company objectives

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of vertical SaaS markets, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and the ability to nurture relationships with key stakeholders to drive growth
