ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Define, evolve, and communicate Pfizer's multi-cloud engineering strategy and roadmap.
- Partner with security, engineering, and business leaders to align cloud capabilities with enterprise objectives .
- Lead the adoption of modern cloud-native architectures and engineering patterns across Pfizer Digital.
Team & Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop multiple teams of cloud engineers, technical leads
- Build a culture of innovation, learning, accountability, and engineering excellence.
- Mentor senior engineers and emerging leaders, growing the next generation of technical talent.
Technical Ownership & Architecture
- Oversee the design and governance of standards for multi-cloud infrastructure, including networking, security, identity, observability, and platform automation.
- Drive consistent adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Python) and platform automation via Spacelift or equivalent tooling.
- Establish reusable cloud design patterns and reference architectures that accelerate product teams and reduce technical debt.
Operational Excellence & Security
- Maintain a secure, compliant, and resilient hosting environment supporting business-critical systems.
- Collaborate with SRE, security, and operations teams to enhance reliability, performance, and cloud posture.
- Serve as senior escalation point for high impact cloud incidents (minimal hands on operational work).
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay ahead of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to drive platform modernization.
- Champion automation-first approaches, improving delivery speed, repeatability, and consistency.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering, architecture, and operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with global engineering, application development, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to deliver seamless end to end cloud capabilities.
- Support business units and product teams in adopting best practice cloud architectures and cloud native services.
- Represent Cloud Services in architecture forums, governance councils, and strategic investment discussions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science , Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience.
- 10-15+ years of experience in cloud or software engineering, platform architecture, or infrastructure leadership roles.
- At least 5 years leading multiple engineering teams or large, complex technical organizations.
- Deep expertise across at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with strong multi-cloud familiarity.
- Expert-level experience designing and deploying infrastructure using IaC tools.
- Strong programming and automation experience (Python preferred).
- Proven track record influencing across large matrixed organizations.
- Strong leadership capabilities, with experience coaching and developing senior engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, define long-term strategy, and deliver high value outcomes.
- Customer centric mindset with the ability to align cloud capabilities to business needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-cloud architectural experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Experience defining enterprise cloud standards and governance frameworks.
- Expertise with Spacelift or similar IaC automation platforms.
- Contributions to open-source cloud or infrastructure tooling.
- Advanced cloud certifications (AWS SA Pro , GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience working in global organizations with distributed engineering teams.
