YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY: 

The Director of Demand Planning leads strategic sourcing and forecasting for critical supply chain elements, with primary emphasis on major commodity categories including steel, wire, and cable tray. This role also oversees subcontract management across multiple systems and scopes of work as well as managing the Bill of Materials (BOM) creation process in partnership with Engineering to support accurate order planning. 


WHAT YOU'LL DO: 

Demand Forecasting & Strategic Sourcing 

  • Develop and maintain long-range demand forecasts for major material categories (steel, wire, cable tray, and related commodities). 
  • Analyze market trends, pricing volatility, and supply chain risk to inform sourcing strategy. 
  • Build and manage relationships with key suppliers and negotiate favorable pricing/terms. 
  • Partner with project teams to align material procurement timelines with project schedules. 

Subcontract Oversight 

  • Manage subcontract agreements across mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and carpentry trades. 
  • Ensure subcontractor scope, pricing, and performance align with project and budget requirements. 
  • Coordinate with legal and project management on subcontract terms and compliance. 

Bill of Materials (BOM) Management 

  • Oversee BOM creation and validation in coordination with the Engineering department for all material orders. 
  • Ensure BOMs accurately reflect project specifications and are aligned with sourcing and forecasting plans. 
  • Partner with Engineering to resolve discrepancies between BOMs and procurement requirements. 
  • Establish standards/processes for BOM accuracy, revision control, and timely handoff to procurement. 

Category & Commodity Management 

  • Own category strategy for high-volume/high-risk commodities. 
  • Monitor commodity market conditions and adjust procurement plans accordingly. 
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and supply chain efficiencies. 

Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and finance teams on material planning 
  • Lead and develop a team of planners/buyers (if applicable) 
  • Report on forecast accuracy, cost trends, and supply risk to senior leadership 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities to interpret complex market data and develop long-term demand forecasts and sourcing strategies. 
  • Proven negotiation skills with a track record of building and managing robust supplier relationships to secure favorable terms and mitigate supply risks. 
  • Strong leadership and talent development capabilities, with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop high-performing teams. 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills to effectively partner with Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and Finance teams. 
  • Deep understanding of supply chain best practices within a manufacturing, prefabrication, or industrialized construction environment. 

WHAT YOU BRING TO US 
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA is a plus. 
  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, demand planning, procurement, or supply chain leadership roles, or equivalent experience. 
  • At least 5-7 years of leadership experience, managing and developing supply chain or procurement teams. 
  • Experience managing commodity procurement for steel, wire, cable tray, electrical components, or similar materials.  
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and subcontract agreements.  
  • Experience within manufacturing, modular construction, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale project environments preferred.  
  • Proficiency with ERP, MRP, procurement, and forecasting systems. 

 

TRAVEL 
  • Up to 25% 

WORKING CONDITIONS 
  • This position operates primarily in a professional office environment, with a hybrid work schedule. 
  • Regularly requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, operate a computer, and communicate effectively. 
  • Occasionally requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. 
  • May involve periodic visits to MPS manufacturing facilities or project sites, requiring the ability to navigate industrial environments and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, and steel-toed boots.
