Job Description

What You'll Do

The Director, Finance Business Manager - MX reports to the SVP, Financial Planning & Analysis and serves as the lead finance business partner supporting the MX organization.  This role is responsible for driving financial planning, business performance analysis, operational finance support, profitability optimization, and strategic decision-making. The position collaborates across Finance, Accounting, Investment, Legal, Procurement, and Shared Services to support the growth, scalability, and financial integrity of the MX business.


40% - Financial Planning, Analysis & Business Partnership

  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting, budgeting and long-range planning processes for MX.
  • Monitor business performance against revenue, profitability, and operational targets by analyzing actual results against budget and forecast, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.
  • Develop complex financial and analytical models to evaluate revenue performance, client profitability, strategic investments and new business opportunities.
  • Partner with MX leadership to support business planning, growth initiatives and enterprise decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators, dashboards and management reporting to provide transparency into business performance.
  • Present financial results, key business insights and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

25% - Financial Operations, Accounting & Controls
  • Partner closely with the Accounting team to ensure accurate accounting treatment, accruals, deferrals and revenue recognition.
  • Oversee and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages presented to executive management.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of billing, revenue recognition, journal entries, balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and supporting financial analyses.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and compliance with company policies, U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
  • Support internal and external audit activities and ensure timely resolution of audit requests and findings.

35% - Strategic Finance, Deal Support & Process Improvement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across Business Solutions, Shared Services, Investment, Accounting, Legal, Procurement and other cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on complex MX transactions, evaluating financial implications, risk exposure, operational requirements and profitability opportunities.
  • Partner with MX Investment on client billing, invoice management, vendor-level and client-level reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Analyze deal-level and client-level profitability to identify opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Procurement to review Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work and other contractual arrangements to ensure alignment with accounting policies, contractual obligations and business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on automation, reporting enhancements, operational scalability and continuous process improvement.
  • Design and implement scalable financial and operational processes to support evolving business models, non-standard transactions and complex deal structures.
  • Drive financial discipline, accountability and governance across the MX organization while supporting innovation and business growth.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May provide mentorship, guidance and project leadership to finance team members and cross-functional partners.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA, MBA or other advanced financial certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, operational finance, controllership, business finance or related financial leadership roles.
  • Experience supporting media, advertising, principal trading, barter or other complex transaction-based business models highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and structure complex financial arrangements while balancing financial, operational and compliance considerations.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to work through detailed data and present concise, executive-level insights.
  • Experience navigating complex system limitations and developing scalable process- or technology-enabled solutions for non-standard business transactions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP, financial reporting and planning systems such as NetSuite, Workday, Adaptive Planning, Power BI or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence decision-making and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Salary Range

$150,000.00 - $170,000.00
