Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $112,000.00 - $170,875.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.What you will be doing

Position Summary

Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is seeking an inaugural Director, Fundraising Programs to lead the operational execution and growth of fundraising initiatives, with a primary focus on BIKE HSS—a bike, walk, and run program supporting research in orthopedics and rheumatology.

This role is responsible for program management, cross-functional coordination, and year-round engagement strategy. The Director will build scalable fundraising programs, drive operational excellence, and ensure successful delivery of key milestones. This is a non-portfolio role that enables frontline fundraisers.

 

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Program Operations

  • Operationalize multi-channel fundraising strategies, including peer-to-peer and corporate campaigns
  • Partner with internal teams to identify and transition qualified donor prospects
  • Coordinate physician engagement activities and supporting materials
  • Oversee peer-to-peer platform experience and digital fundraising tools
  • Improve data integration across platforms (CRM, email, fundraising tools)
  • Support communications highlighting program impact and progress

Fundraising Program Growth

  • Design and implement year-round fundraising and engagement strategies
  • Develop and execute program roadmap (concept through launch and optimization)
  • Build engagement pathways for participants, physicians, and partners
  • Launch new program components including community and corporate activations
  • Track performance metrics and optimize programs based on insights

Project Management & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end project management for BIKE HSS and related initiatives
  • Establish timelines, workplans, and accountability structures
  • Provide regular reporting on progress, risks, and milestones
  • Ensure timely and high-quality program delivery

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing and corporate partnerships teams on campaign execution
  • Coordinate with communications, events, operations, and data teams
  • Manage relationships with external vendors (event production, web, communications)
  • Ensure alignment across all program touchpoints and stakeholder groups

 

Reporting Structure

Reports to Vice President, Development Operations and Donor Engagement

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven experience in fundraising program management, operations, or related field
  • Strong project management and cross-functional leadership experience
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in reporting and analytics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, events, or development
  • Experience with corporate partnerships and community engagement
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Raiser’s Edge
  • Experience in healthcare or mission-driven organizations
