Testudo is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and experienced Director of Growth to help our small but mighty team develop our audience and customer base, nurture our brand awareness, and expand our community of collectors and partners.

Testudo is the gateway to acquiring unique contemporary art made by emerging studio artists. Cultivating a new generation of budding collectors, Testudo offers highly original works from a marketplace grounded in inclusivity, security, and transparency. We partner directly with artists and help more people connect with art of our moment and build enduring collections over time.

We harness the immediacy and agility of Testudo’s digital presence to help more people connect with contemporary art and build enduring art collections over time. By providing access to each artist’s intention and practice through documentary videos, original editorials, and transparent information, Testudo opens up the exclusive art market.

As artists receive a higher profit from each sale through Testudo than from the traditional gallery model, more of each collector’s investment goes to the artists they support. Unlike the existing art market, Testudo also provides a secure avenue for reselling works purchased through its site while allocating a portion of that secondary sale to the artist—aligning the interests of collectors and makers.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

As Director of Growth, you will drive the development and expansion of our platform by establishing strong partnerships across industries and building a dedicated community and customer base of budding art collectors. An enduring interest in contemporary art and a profound understanding of the cultural sector is required. Our ideal candidate is an independent self-starter with a proven track record of originating and executing business growth ideas. Must have experience building a brand and audience from the ground up. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills and an established network of contacts across industries. 

Testudo has offices based in Industry City, Brooklyn. Our company requires two days a week of in-person work (Tuesdays and Thursdays), with M/W/F remote optional. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Envision and implement a comprehensive growth strategy to drive brand awareness and expand our base of followers, art collectors, and partners
  • Harness your existing network of contacts across the cultural, tech, real estate, hospitality, and finance sectors to establish collaborations and alliances
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with important individuals and organizations across industries through targeted outreach—establishing new strategist partnerships and engagement initiatives
  • Act as a brand ambassador; identify, attend, and represent Testudo at industry events, conferences, and various networking opportunities
  • Leverage sales experience to drive both B2B and B2C sales and partnerships, taking a results-driven approach to identifying and closing opportunities for revenue growth
  • Collaborate with our in-house team and external stakeholders to generate and execute marketing, communications, and promotional campaigns that drive customer acquisition and engagement
  • Research and stay up-to-date on art world industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to inform strategic business decisions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, ideally in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment 
  • Proven track record of building a brand and growing an audience base from scratch
  • Enduring interest in contemporary art and a profound understanding of the cultural sector
  • Well-connected across industries with a network of valuable contacts and a hunger for building and maintaining new relationships with diverse partners and stakeholders
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to take ownership of projects and work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; an extrovert with a high level of emotional intelligence (EQ)
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically, with a results-oriented mindset focused on achieving measurable outcomes
  • Strong sales experience (both B2B and B2C) with a track record of achieving targets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and tools is preferred
  • Highly adaptable and able to thrive in an evolving start-up environment

Salary Range:

The annual salary range for this position is $80-$90,000 depending on experience plus equity and bonus. Testudo offers full benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) and paid vacation.
