Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Director, Head of HR Data Services, located in New Brunswick, NJ.

HR Data & Intelligence sits at the heart of Johnson & Johnson’s HR Digital ecosystem, architecting the intelligence layer that shapes how the company understands, engages, and mobilizes its global workforce. This organization builds and operationalizes enterprise-scale data, analytics, and AI capabilities that do more than inform decisions—they reshape how HR plans, predicts, personalizes, and performs. By unifying data science, employee listening, knowledge management, and responsible AI, HR Data & Intelligence is transforming workforce signals into strategic advantage, ensuring HR is not only insight-led and future-ready, but a trusted steward of ethical, human-centered intelligence at scale.  Within this ecosystem, Data Services is the business-owned data platform capability that ensures HR data is trusted, scalable, and analytics-ready.

The Director, Head of HR Data Services is the senior-most leader accountable for the business strategy, product ownership, and value delivery of HR’s enterprise data platform, including the Medallion architecture in Databricks and HR products in the Data Marketplace. As the overall Business Product Owner, this role owns the platform vision, roadmap, prioritization, standards, and outcomes, and leads a dedicated team of data product stewards embedded within HR product squads, business platform managers, and the data quality function. Together, these teams translate HR business and product needs into clear data requirements, ensure high-quality and reusable data assets, and drive adoption of the enterprise platform across HR. The Director, Head of HR Data Services works in close partnership with the Technical Platform Manager, acting as the primary business customer for technical delivery while ensuring that engineering execution aligns to business priorities and product outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the overall Business Product Owner for HR’s enterprise data platform, owning the vision, roadmap, prioritization, standards, and value realization for the Medallion architecture in Databricks

  • Own the definition, lifecycle management, and success of HR data products, including how data products are named, scoped, documented, governed, and surfaced within the HR data marketplace

  • Lead the Data Services business organization, including:

  • Data Product Stewards embedded within HR product squads who translate business and product needs into data product requirements and maintain those products within the data marketplace

  • Business Platform Managers who manage platform-level intake, prioritization, roadmap sequencing, and cross-product dependencies

  • The Data Quality function, accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and trustworthiness of data products published to the marketplace

  • Establish and enforce enterprise standards for data products, including data domains, contracts, quality thresholds, metadata, documentation, and ownership models that enable reuse and self-service

  • Ensure the HR data marketplace operates as a trusted system of record for analytics-ready data products used by analytics teams, data science, AI workflows, HR digital products, and executive reporting

  • Own the data intake and demand management model for HR, ensuring new data sources and use cases are translated into durable data products rather than one-off pipelines

  • Ensure all HR analytics teams, data science teams, product squads, and AI initiatives consume data through the enterprise data platform and marketplace, preventing bespoke, shadow, or duplicative data solutions

  • Act as the primary business customer and decision-maker for technical platform delivery, working in close partnership with the Technical Platform Manager to align engineering execution with data product priorities

  • Partner with Data Governance, Privacy, Security, and HR AI leaders to ensure compliance, ethical use, and AI-readiness are embedded into data product design and platform strategy

  • Own the business outcomes of the data platform and marketplace, including adoption, usability, reliability, cost efficiency, and enablement of downstream insights and automation

  • Develop and lead a high-performing, globally distributed team with strong product mindset, clear accountability, and deep understanding of HR data consumers

  • Continuously evolve the data product and platform strategy based on emerging trends in data marketplaces, analytics engineering, and AI-ready architectures

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data, Engineering, or a related field is required.

  • 8+ years progressive leadership experience owning enterprise data platforms as business products, with accountability for strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and value delivery

  • Demonstrated experience operating as a Business Product Owner for data or platform capabilities, translating business and product needs into durable data products

  • Strong technical fluency in modern data architectures (e.g., medallion, layered, or lakehouse patterns) with the ability to partner effectively with engineering and platform teams

  • Proven experience defining and governing data products and data marketplaces, including data product scope, metadata, documentation, quality standards, and lifecycle management

  • Experience leading and developing data product stewards, platform managers, and data quality teams in a productoriented operating model

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and enforce enterprise data standards that enable reuse, selfservice, and analytics readiness across multiple consumer groups

  • Strong stakeholder leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior HR, Digital, and Technology leaders and align competing priorities

  • Excellent executive communication skills, including the ability to translate complex data and platform concepts into clear business decisions and tradeoffs

Preferred:

  • Experience operating within an HR, people analytics, or workforce technology environment

  • Experience partnering with data science, analytics, and AI teams to enable advanced use cases through platform and data product design

  • Experience working closely with data governance, privacy, security, and compliance teams to embed requirements into data products and platforms

  • Experience operating in a global organization with awareness of regional data, privacy, and residency considerations
