Owns the independent agency segment through personal selling, revenue accountability, team hiring and development, and go-to-market strategy. The role manages pipeline, forecasting, partnerships, segmentation, pricing, and adoption of measurement, targeting, and attribution solutions. It also represents the segment at industry events and channels client feedback to product teams.
Samba connects the advertising industry. Today, a trillion dollars of media flows through platforms that don’t talk to each other, and each one measures its own results. We built the independent alternative: consented first-party data and AI that give the world’s biggest advertisers, publishers, and platforms one clear view across all of it.
The next era of advertising will run on AI agents, and those agents will need data they can trust. We’re building that foundation, and the agents that act on it. Join us and help build what the industry runs on.
Independent agencies are some of the sharpest, fastest-moving buyers in media, and one of Samba's biggest growth opportunities. As Director of Independent Agencies, you own this segment end to end. It is a true player-coach role: you carry your own revenue target and close your own deals while hiring, coaching, and leading the team that scales the business, and you define how Samba goes to market with independents.
- Carry the Number: Carry your own revenue target across a portfolio of strategic independent media agencies, with full accountability for pipeline, forecasting, and close.
- Lead as Player-Coach: Set the standard by closing your own deals while building, coaching, and developing the team that owns the independent agency segment.
- Build the Team: Hire, onboard, and mentor a team of agency sellers, leveling up everyone around you and creating a high-performing, collaborative culture.
- Define the Go-to-Market: Define and execute Samba's go-to-market approach for the independent agency segment, including segmentation, prioritization, packaging, and pricing.
- Grow the Partnerships: Prospect, qualify, close, and scale new agency partnerships across Samba's measurement, targeting, and attribution solutions, deepening adoption with existing partners.
- Track the Business: Set targets, forecast, and report on team and individual performance, instilling strong pipeline and Salesforce discipline across the team.
- Represent the Segment: Represent Samba at industry events as a senior voice for the independent agency space, and channel agency feedback to product and measurement science.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in advertising, digital media, adtech, or data and analytics sales, with a track record selling into or alongside media agencies.
- People-leadership experience, having built, coached, and retained high-performing sales talent, whether formally or as a player-coach.
- A genuine player-coach mindset: you still love to sell and carry a number, and you get energy from developing others and multiplying their success.
- Deep familiarity with the independent agency landscape and the buyers, decision-makers, and dynamics that define it.
- A strategic, consultative, and analytical sales approach focused on building partnerships with clients, with fluency in cross-screen measurement, targeting, and attribution.
- Customer-focused leadership with excellent communication, networking, and negotiation skills, confident leading conversations with senior agency stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Salesforce and a disciplined approach to pipeline and forecast management, comfortable moving between a command line and a boardroom.
