BNY Wealth is seeking a Director, Investment Thought Leadership to build and lead our investment content strategy and execution. This role will be responsible for shaping a best-in-class content marketing function focused on translating the insights of the Chief Investment Office into compelling, relevant, and timely communications for clients, advisors, and internal stakeholders.

This is a strategic leadership role for a content specialist with deep wealth management and investment communications experience — not a broad-based general marketing position. The successful candidate will define the vision, cadence, and execution model for investment-related content, ensuring our communications clearly articulate market perspectives, investment philosophy, and broader thought leadership in ways that resonate with wealth clients and the teams who support them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of BNY Wealth’s investment content marketing strategy
  • Build a structured content program that supports communications to wealth advisory clients, advisors, internal partners, and the Chief Investment Office
  • Develop content that conveys:
    • Investment philosophy
    • Market perspectives
    • Timely market developments
    • Thought leadership themes
  • Define the appropriate editorial and communication cadence across weekly, quarterly, bi-annual, and event-driven content
  • Reassess and enhance existing content forums and communication vehicles to improve consistency, relevance, and impact
  • Partner closely with investment subject matter experts and senior leaders to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling, and client-relevant content
  • Serve as the strategic owner of the content function, setting quality standards and defining what best-in-class looks like for wealth and investment communications
  • Produce and/or oversee the creation of high-quality investment and market content with minimal need for senior-level editing or rework
  • Help elevate senior leaders as thought leaders by streamlining the content development process and reducing their involvement in day-to-day editing and proofreading
  • Build and potentially manage a broader content capability over time, including the opportunity to hire or lead additional specialized talent as the function evolves

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in content marketing, investment communications, editorial strategy, or thought leadership development within wealth management, private banking, asset management, or broader financial services
  • Strong expertise in investment and market-related content, particularly for wealth management or high-net-worth/client advisory audiences
  • Deep understanding of financial topics, including:
    • Asset classes
    • Federal Reserve and macroeconomic policy
    • Market dynamics
    • Investment themes
    • Portfolio and wealth planning concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to build content programs strategically, not just execute individual deliverables
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex financial subject matter into clear, engaging, and client-friendly content
  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, advisors, portfolio strategists, and subject matter experts
  • High degree of independence, judgment, and strategic thinking
  • Strong understanding of how content supports client engagement, advisor enablement, and thought leadership in a wealth management context
  • Experience working in or closely with a Chief Investment Office, investment strategy team, wealth platform, or advisory business preferred
  • People management or team-building experience is a plus
