We create and curate celebrated series and films across distinct brands and make them available to audiences everywhere. Our portfolio includes targeted streaming services AMC+, Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, ALLBLK and HIDIVE; cable networks AMC, BBC AMERICA, Independent Film Company, Sundance TV and We TV; and film distribution labels Independent Film Company and RLJE Films. The company also operates AMC Studios, our in-house studio, production, and distribution operation behind acclaimed and fan-favorite originals including The Walking Dead Universe and the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and AMC Networks International, our international programming business.
 
We are currently seeking a Director - IP Marketing Strategy to join our Brand & Integrated Marketing Strategy team, based in our New York, New York office.
 

The Director, IP Marketing Strategy will oversee 360-degree consumer marketing campaign strategies associated with the launch and exploitation of original and acquired content for AMCN brands. Responsible for building overarching, clearly defined, and cohesive strategies that support company goals and initiatives, while increasing viewership and engagement. Working across disciplines, the director will evaluate, plan, organize, and manage, all initiatives in an effort to achieve campaign objectives while strengthening AMCN’s position in the market. 

This role requires an inspirational leader and collaborator who is detail oriented and has excellent organizational, budgetary, personnel management, communication, strategic, and client relationship skills. Proven to work well under pressure, tight budgets, deadlines, and campaign and organizational change.  Consumer marketing knowledge, leadership experience, proven strategy expertise, and campaign management background is a must. A creative eye and deep knowledge and love of the entertainment space and current pop culture is preferred.

Reporting to the VP, IP Marketing Strategy this role is responsible for helping build and execute brand consumer marketing strategies driving to linear and streaming goals that ladder up to corporate Goals, Strategies and Tactics (GSTs) for AMCN. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement innovative marketing strategies to increase IP awareness, drive customer acquisition, and enhance customer engagement. Work in tandem with Content Strategy, Research, Media/Growth, Social Media, and Creative teams to identify key priorities across AMC Networks brands and services and socialize across the organization. Regularly look for opportunities to drive retention and engagement in collaboration with cross functional teams (Programming & Scheduling, Social/CRM, Business Strategy, Research, Partner/Affiliate team, etc.). 

  • Campaign Development: Develop marketing campaigns across digital, social, linear and experiential channels. Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to execute campaigns effectively. Plans to be developed with input from key stakeholders across functional teams (Research, Media Planning, Growth Mktg, Content strategy, Programming & Scheduling, CRM, PR, Partner/Affiliates, Brand Integration/Ad Sales, Events, etc.) to ensure we are maximizing all opportunities to drive audience engagement.  Help build a Life-Cycle approach to campaign planning in collaboration with cross functional teams to ensure the best outcomes across the various windows of content exploitation including linear, streaming, theatrical, home entertainment/digital transactional and licensing.

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives. Work in tandem with Content, Research and Media/Growth Mktg leads to analyze data and insights to optimize strategies and drive continuous improvement during key phases of the campaign. Lead and document post mortems for all campaigns to garner learnings and ways forward.

  • Market Analysis: Work in tandem with Research lead to conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trend and opportunities. Utilize insights to inform marketing strategies and decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)

  • 10 - 15+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on strategic planning and execution.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies that drive business results.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and insights to inform decision-making.

  • Experience leading and motivating a team with a proven track record for developing internal talent

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.

  • Deep understanding of all marketing channels, tools, and technologies.

  • Deep experience in building and guiding direct reports and supporting individuals in a fast passed environment

  • A portfolio of proven work with an ability to generate and develop new ideas

  • Experience building, supporting, and scaling cross-functional marketing campaigns

  • Deep experience in mining and using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements in plans and strategies

  • Strong innovative thinker with an eagerness to meet and exceed goals and targets

  • Deep understanding of entertainment industry knowledge and marketing best practices

  • Adaptability and flexibility to the changing needs of the team

  • Excellent time management, ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and lead through change.

  • Preferred

    • Previous experience in television / entertainment field

    • Previous experience with streaming services

    • Experience/knowledge of AirTable

    • Prior knowledge of AMCN shows and properties

  • Must be willing to work in-person in our NYC office per current or future in-person company policy. 

The base compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000 commensurate with experience. AMC Networks additionally offers a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Paid Time Off, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption Services, among other benefit plan options, subject to eligibility requirements.
