About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of IT to lead technology operations for our New York office, supporting approximately 200 staff across multiple agencies within our organization. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and practical technical expertise to ensure seamless IT service delivery across our diverse business environment.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations & Support

  • Oversee and deliver comprehensive IT support across all agencies, ensuring rapid resolution of technical issues and minimal disruption to business operations
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical problems
  • Work with the Group Head of IT and Group IT Director to develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization
  • Maintain high levels of user satisfaction through proactive support and effective communication

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Manage and optimize our Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring security, compliance, and efficient operation
  • Oversee hybrid Windows and macOS environment, providing expert support for both platforms
  • Monitor system performance, security, and reliability across all IT infrastructure
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities

Asset & Vendor Management

  • Procure IT equipment, software licenses, and services in line with organizational needs and budget
  • Manage IT inventory and stock levels, ensuring optimal availability of equipment and supplies
  • Negotiate with vendors and manage supplier relationships
  • Develop and manage IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective technology investments

Team Leadership

  • Directly manage one IT team member, providing guidance, training, and professional development
  • Foster a collaborative and service-oriented IT team culture
  • Coordinate workload distribution and prioritization across the team

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement IT strategy aligned with business objectives across multiple agencies
  • Identify opportunities for technology improvements and efficiency gains
  • Lead technology projects from conception through implementation

Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of IT experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior technical role
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and management
  • Proven experience supporting both Windows and macOS environments
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, security principles, and IT best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage IT procurement, budgets, and vendor relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Experience supporting multi-agency or multi-department environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Advantageous Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud administration and deployment
  • Knowledge of Mimecast email security platform
  • Familiarity with Sophos security solutions
  • Experience with LucidLink cloud storage solutions
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified, CompTIA, ITIL)
  • Project management experience
