Our teams span Client Success, Commercial, Solutions, Activation, Data/Technology/Analytics, Revenue Operations, and Business Strategy, all working together to power dentsu’s most effective partnerships and products.

The Marketplace & Partnerships division is responsible for all elements of strategic partnerships for the dentsu Media practice in the US. Housed within Amplifi, the Investment, Activation, Partnership and Solutions arm of dentsu, the team serves as the center of excellence for marketplace intelligence across dentsu and its media agencies (Carat, dentsuX, iProspect). The Marketplace & Partnership team translates client business needs, dentsu’s strategic, and commercial priorities, as well as emergent and established trends across the industry and society into strategic, value-driven, and beneficial partnerships. In addition, the team sets the strategic partnership agenda for dentsu in the marketplace, new business, and product/solution design within the organization.

The Director, Marketplace & Partnerships will serve as a subject matter expert in programmatic and digital-first partners, both internally and externally, while operating fluidly across adjacent media channels, environments, and disciplines. This is a hybrid-opportunity based in our New York office and will report into the VP, Marketplace & Partnerships- Platforms. You will support the development and execution of the partnership strategy within their area of focus, lead day-to-day partner management and negotiations, and ensure our partnerships deliver against core objectives of strategic impact, innovation, and measurable value.

The Director will play a critical role in translating strategy into execution, ensuring negotiated value is realized, partner innovation is activated, and internal teams are educated and enabled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a defined portfolio of platform, supply, and digital-first partner relationships, serving as the primary day-to-day lead across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support the VP in developing and executing annual partnership strategies and landscape evaluations

  • Lead negotiations for assigned partners, ensuring commercial, strategic, and innovation objectives are properly structured and delivered.

  • Be a leader and subject matter expert in assigned specialism within the Partnership community.

  • Manages day-to-day deal terms and communication of the partnerships, ensuring excellence in execution.

  • Collaborate closely with Investment & Activation teams to ensure partnership terms are clearly understood, operationalized, and fully capitalized across clients.

  • Identify and activate partner-led innovation opportunities, pilots, and test-and-learn programs in alignment with client and agency priorities.

  • Provide consistent communication and organization of key partnership information to teams and management to capture all the nuanced details of these agreements and keep on track for deal progression.

  • Support client business where needed to build custom partnership plans and subject matter expertise of partner landscape.

  • Participate in new business as subject matter expert in specialism and/or Marketplace & Partnership leader on value proposition for potential clients.

  • Remain ahead of the industry in understanding key trends, themes, technologies, and disruptors that can help propel dentsu’s practices forward.

  • Drive standards of excellence across reporting, ways of working, and cross-team collaboration to ensure clarity and consistency across the Marketplace & Partnerships function.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Can balance strategic thinking with operational excellence, ensuring ideas translate into measurable impact.

  • Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and aligning varying stakeholders across agencies, investment, activation, and commercial teams.

  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and bring structured thinking to complex marketplace challenges.

  • Communicate effectively across levels of the organization, with the ability to present insights and recommendations clearly and confidently.

  • Embrace change and contribute positively to organizational transformation and evolving operating models.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years’ experience within the programmatic + digital industry as a partnership or investment lead at a reputable agency or partner, specialized in retail media and retail media networks.

  • 3+ years’ experience management of a team

  • Strong understanding of programmatic supply dynamics, platform ecosystems, AI-enabled media solutions, and digital-first partnerships.

  • Consistent & exceptional project management, ability to prioritize, manage multiple concurrent needs and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications, presentation, and analytical skills; must be comfortable working with and presenting to executive leadership.

  • Ability to retain professionalism in all situations.

  • Passion for problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration across teams.

  • Ability to translate complex ideas into actionable solutions.

The annual salary range for this position is $114,425-$150,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.

At dentsu, we believe great work happens when we’re connected. Our hybrid way of working combines remote flexibility with regular in-person collaboration to spark ideas and strengthen our teams. Many of our employees who live within commuting distance (90 minutes) from one of our Headquarter or Hub Offices (New York, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles) are required to work in the office 2-3 days per week including one Team Day. The minimum number of days may vary by office and role. Dentsu may designate other HQ or Hub offices at any time. Those who do not live near an office may be designated as a remote employee, depending on the role and business needs. Regardless of your work location, we expect you to be flexible to meet the needs of our Company and clients, which may include attendance in an office from time to time.
