About Norm Ai
Norm Ai, the agentic law company, has a client base with a combined $30 trillion in assets under management.

Norm Ai pioneered Legal Engineering, the process that empowers lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents with Norm’s proprietary suite of no-code software tools. Norm Ai technology is deployed inside many of the largest and most consequential institutions in the world.

Norm Ai is also the technology behind Norm Law, LLP, a separate but affiliated AI-native law firm built for the era of agentic AI. Norm Law’s attorneys advise leading institutions across private funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, registered funds, and financial regulation, using the same legal intelligence platform that powers Norm Ai’s products.
AI Fluency:
Norm Ai prefers all team members to be fluent in AI. Successful candidates actively use AI in their day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving. They use it to improve the quality and speed of their work and to continuously refine how work gets done end-to-end.
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss their AI usage throughout the interview process, including concrete examples of tools, workflows, and outcomes. We look for practical, hands-on experience, not theoretical familiarity.

This Role

Norm is seeking a Director of PR & Communications to build and lead an external communications program that strengthens the reputations of both Norm and Norm Law, our affiliated AI-native law firm. This role will establish a clear, credible voice at the intersection of AI, legal services, regulation, and business.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will own PR and communications across the broader Norm organization. You will shape how our founder, executives, Norm Law leadership, and partners communicate with the media, policymakers, clients, investors, and other influential audiences.

A central part of the role will be supporting the growth and reputation of Norm Law. You will work closely with law-firm leadership and partners to translate their expertise into compelling narratives, identify meaningful media and thought-leadership opportunities, and ensure Norm Ai and Norm Law tell one coherent story.

What You’ll Do
  • Build the communications strategy: Develop an integrated approach to media relations, executive communications, public affairs, thought leadership, and reputation management across Norm and Norm Law.

  • Advance the Norm Law narrative: Shape how Norm Law communicates its differentiated model, practice-area expertise, client value, and role in the future of legal services.

  • Translate narratives into executive and partner communications: Partner with the Head of Marketing to turn Norm’s core positioning—and the expertise of our founder, executives, and Norm Law partners—into social content, essays, op-eds, speeches, talking points, and public positions.

  • Lead media relations: Build relationships with business, technology, AI, legal, and policy reporters while managing inbound requests, proactive outreach, interviews, and follow-up.

  • Define messages and guardrails: Maintain core narratives, proof points, Q&A, spokesperson guidance, and sensitive-issues frameworks across the technology company and law firm.

  • Prepare spokespeople: Create briefing materials, lead preparation sessions, staff interviews, and ensure executives and partners communicate consistently and credibly.

  • Own the operating process: Establish clear intake, evaluation, approval, tracking, and escalation processes for media, speaking, podcast, byline, and partner-content opportunities.

  • Lead partners and manage risk: Direct external communications agencies, hold partners accountable, identify emerging issues early, and navigate client confidentiality, professional obligations, and reputational risk.

What We’re Looking For:

Core Qualifications
  • 8+ years experience leading PR, corporate communications, executive communications, public affairs, or media relations.

  • A track record of serving as a trusted communications adviser to founders, executives, senior partners, or other high-profile subject-matter experts.

  • Exceptional writing and editorial judgment, including experience ghostwriting executive or partner social content, speeches, essays, op-eds, and bylines.

  • Strong media instincts and experience building productive relationships with top-tier reporters and managing external agencies.

  • The judgment to navigate sensitive topics, client confidentiality, reputational risk, complex approvals, and highly scrutinized claims.

  • The ability to translate technical, legal, regulatory, or policy-heavy subjects into clear and compelling public narratives.

  • Strong operational ownership and the ability to build effective systems in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities.

Nice to Haves
  • Experience supporting a law firm, legal-services organization, professional-services business, or other partner-led environment.

  • Familiarity with AI, legal technology, financial services, government, or regulation.

  • An established network across business, technology, AI, legal, policy, or government media.

  • Experience supporting major company milestones, law-firm launches, practice-area growth, fundraising announcements, or regulatory developments.

What Success Looks Like

30 Days
  • Develop a strong understanding of Norm, Norm Law, their leadership teams, practice areas, audiences, existing narratives, and reputational priorities.

  • Build relationships with key executives and Norm Law partners while auditing current messaging, media materials, agency workflows, and communications requests.

  • Take ownership of the communications intake process and establish a reliable working cadence with leadership and agency partners.

60 Days
  • Establish aligned message houses for Norm and Norm Law, including spokesperson guidance, proof points, sensitive topics, and language governing how the two organizations are described together.

  • Launch an editorial program for our founder, executives, and priority Norm Law partners with a consistent calendar and review process.

  • Present a prioritized media and public-affairs strategy spanning company priorities, Norm Law practice areas, target reporters, opportunities, and risks.

90 Days
  • Run a proactive and reliable communications program with clear ownership, deadlines, approvals, and escalation paths.

  • Build an active pipeline of executive and partner thought leadership, media opportunities, and direct reporter relationships.

  • Ensure Norm executives, Norm Law partners, agencies, and internal teams communicate from consistent messages and approved positions.

  • Establish communications as a meaningful driver of Norm Law’s reputation, practice-area visibility, and broader business priorities.
