Director, Product Management - Tokenized Deposits
Overview
Tokenized deposits bring commercial bank money onto programmable infrastructure, enabling new forms of digital payments, settlement, and financial services. Mastercard is developing the interoperability capabilities required for bank-issued tokenized deposits to operate across institutions, platforms, blockchain networks, and other forms of digital money.
The Director, Product Management, Tokenized Deposits will lead the strategy, development, and commercialization of Mastercard's tokenized deposit capabilities. The role requires a product leader who can translate emerging digital-asset technologies and customer needs into secure, scalable, and commercially viable products.
Role
• Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Tokenized Deposits, translating customer needs, market developments, and emerging digital-asset capabilities into scalable products.
• Lead product development across the tokenized deposit lifecycle, including issuance enablement, transfer, programmability, interoperability, acceptance, clearing, and settlement.
• Develop capabilities that enable tokenized deposits to operate across financial institutions, blockchain networks, applications, and other forms of digital money.
• Translate complex technical and business requirements into clear product specifications, architecture decisions, delivery priorities, and commercialization plans.
• Partner with engineering, architecture, design, legal, compliance, risk, regional teams, financial institutions, and technology providers to take capabilities from concept through pilot, launch, and scale.
• Engage customers and ecosystem partners to identify priority use cases, validate product requirements, structure pilots, and drive adoption.
• Define product operating models, governance, integration approaches, and implementation guidance that support secure and scalable participation by banks and ecosystem partners.
• Establish product success metrics and use customer feedback, pilot outcomes, and market insights to continuously refine the roadmap.
All About You
• Significant product management or product development experience in digital assets, payments, banking infrastructure, or other technically complex financial products.
• Experience owning products from initial concept and customer discovery through technical development, pilot execution, commercialization, and scale.
• Strong understanding of crypto and digital-asset infrastructure, including blockchain networks, smart contracts, wallets, custody, tokenization, and integration with traditional banking and payment systems.
• Engineering experience or a strong technical background, with the ability to work closely with engineers and architects on APIs, distributed ledgers, smart contracts, integration flows, security models, and platform architecture.
• Understanding of commercial bank money, payment execution, clearing and settlement, liquidity, and the operational and regulatory considerations associated with bank-issued digital money.
• Experience translating complex technical concepts into clear product strategies, requirements, executive recommendations, and partner-facing documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional delivery across engineering, architecture, legal, compliance, risk, security, regional, and commercialization teams.
• Strong customer and ecosystem orientation, with experience engaging financial institutions, digital-asset infrastructure providers, blockchain networks, wallet providers, and technology platforms.
• Comfortable operating in an emerging product area, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution and sound product judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with engineers, senior executives, customers, and external partners.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
