Director of Product Marketing

We’re creating a healthier web where communities thrive.

OpenWeb is on a mission to increase the quality of conversations online. We build technologies that create thriving and engaged communities, reduce toxicity, and increase safety — improving the quality of civil discourse and supporting independent journalism. Today, OpenWeb works with more than 5,000 top-tier publishers (including News Corp, Yahoo, CBS, Fox News, Hearst, Refinery 29 and more) and hosts 150 million monthly active users.

Founded in 2015, OpenWeb has over 250 employees between New York City, London, Paris, San Diego, Toronto, and Tel Aviv. We are backed by world-class investors including Georgian, Insight Partners, Index Ventures, AltaIR Capital, and more. We’re crafting technology that brings people together and fosters healthy discussion. It starts with us. Are you in?

About the role:

OpenWeb is dedicated to empowering publishers with innovative solutions that drive engagement and foster thriving communities. The Director of Product Marketing is responsible for developing go-to-market strategy and execution, and creating positioning, packaging and messaging for new product solutions. You will drive the cross-functional product commercialization process, working closely with Product, Sales, Success and the larger Marketing team. This role offers the opportunity to make a major impact in the company, the digital publishing industry, and the world; and to lead a wide variety of programs and initiatives.

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Become an expert on our products and their unique value to customers.
  • Develop competitive differentiation, persuasive messaging, and impactful storytelling around our capabilities and solutions.
  • Define and own go-to-market strategy; collaborate with the rest of the marketing team to develop integrated marketing plans; launch new products to the market; and measure success.
  • Create compelling materials such as slide decks, case studies, product explainers, one-pagers, and videos, collaborating with product owners, stakeholders and designers.
  • Build materials and train Sales and Success teams to help drive new customer acquisition and product adoption, and for key product launches.
  • Through primary and secondary research, develop in-depth knowledge of our market, buyer personas, competitors and partners.  Educate the company on market requirements, trends and competitor capabilities.
  • Hire junior Product Marketing talent and manage a team of experts to scale Product Marketing capabilities.

The Skills and Experience You Bring:

  • 5+ years of product marketing experience at a B2B, ad tech company, brand, publisher and/or social platform
  • Deep understanding of the digital publishing and ad tech spaces, and the importance of audience data for personalization and optimization
  • Experience working in demand-side (SSP) businesses.
  • Experience building, executing and measuring product launch go-to-market plans
  • Experience as a player-coach, balancing hands-on execution with effectively managing and mentoring a small team to achieve shared goals.
  • Superb verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strategic thinker
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to work with metrics, and a data-driven mindset
  • Ability to influence and motivate colleagues across cross-functional teams
  • Accustomed to the fast-paced environment of a growing tech unicorn
  • Must be able to join us in our SoHo office 3x a week.

What You'll Get:

Our Director of Product Marketing compensation package includes an annual salary ranging between $175,000 - $200,000 (based on candidate's experience and skill set). Additionally, this role is eligible for a bonus, equity and benefits including:

  • Premium health benefits (subsidized in 100% for employees) including comprehensive vision, medical, dental through Aetna.
  • 401k + matching up to 4%
  • Uncapped PTO policy
  • Phone reimbursement
  • Telehealth plan with 24/7 access to a dedicated team of physical and mental healthcare providers.
  • Company sponsored Life and Accidental insurance.
  • Team events, holiday parties and outings
