About the Role

Uphold is looking for a Director of Public Relations & Communications to own and drive the company's external voice; from proactive media strategy to crisis response and executive visibility. This is a high-visibility role for someone who can operate at two speeds simultaneously: strategic enough to sit with the CEO and shape company narrative, and hands-on enough to draft the release, pitch the reporter, and get the story placed themselves.

What You'll Do

  • Own the PR function end-to-end - strategy, execution, and measurement — across corporate, enterprise, retail and regulatory
  • Build and execute a proactive media strategy that positions Uphold and its leadership as authoritative voices in crypto, fintech, and financial services
  • Write and ship press releases, media statements, byline articles, executive talking points, and messaging frameworks - this is a role that writes, not just directs writing
  • Manage rapid-response and crisis communications, particularly around regulatory developments, market volatility, and industry news cycles that move fast in crypto
  • Leverage and grow existing relationships with crypto, fintech, and financial media (reporters, editors, producers) to secure earned coverage
  • Prep and accompany executives for interviews, panels, and press engagements — including sitting at the table with the CEO on strategic comms decisions
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Marketing, Legal, Compliance, and Product to ensure messaging is accurate, timely, and aligned with business priorities
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives - many happening simultaneously
  • Monitor the media and regulatory landscape in real time and advise leadership on positioning and risk

What You Bring

  • 7+ years in PR/communications, with meaningful time in fintech, crypto, or financial services
  • Established media relationships across crypto-native, fintech, and mainstream financial press
  • Sharp writing skills  - you can produce a press release, an executive statement, or a messaging doc that doesn't need heavy editing
  • Bias toward action - you thrive juggling multiple fast-moving workstreams rather than waiting for a single clear brief
  • Regulatory fluency - enough grasp of the crypto/fintech regulatory environment to communicate about it accurately and confidently under pressure
  • Calm under fire - crypto news cycles are volatile; you need to be the steady hand when things move fast

What We Offer

  • Innovation and Impact: Contribute to pioneering projects in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Competitive Compensation: Performance bonuses, and comprehensive benefits on top of a competitive salary.
  • Strong Company Culture: Thrive in a supportive, collegiate environment with values of integrity, teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
  • Global Collaboration: Participate in regular updates, strategy sessions, and networking opportunities across the group.
  • Development Opportunities: Access training and mentorship programs.
  • Flexibility: Enjoy options to work from home, other locations, or adjust your hours.
  • Inclusive Environment: Value and respect diverse perspectives.

Our Benefits

  • Annual bonus program based on individual, team and company performance.
  • Generous PTO, healthcare, and employee assistance programs.
  • Engaging events and celebrations.
  • Well-stocked office kitchen with a foodie culture.
