Position Summary

The Director position leads the oversight and optimization of cost management, contract administration, and operational performance reporting to support the SJI Renewable Energy Ventures, LLC (“SJI REV”) financial and strategic objectives. This role is responsible for driving cost discipline, ensuring effective contract governance, and providing accurate and timely reporting of key performance metrics. The Director partners with finance, procurement, and operational leaders to monitor expenditures, manage contractual obligations, evaluate financial performance, and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, transparency, and accountability across the business.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of cost management frameworks to ensure operational spending aligns with approved budgets and organizational financial targets 

  • Oversee contract management processes, including review, negation support, compliance monitoring, and administration of commercial agreements to mitigate financial and contractual risk 

  • Establish and maintain cost tracking and forecasting systems to monitor operational expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve financial efficiency 

  • Direct the preparation of and delivery of accurate and timely operational performance reports, including short-term incentive metrics, ensuring alignment with corporate performance measurement frameworks 

  • Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Legal, and SJI REV operational leadership to ensure consistent contract governance, cost control practices, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements 

  • Analyze operational and financial data to provide strategic insights and recommendations that support executive decision-making and business performance improvement 

  • Monitor contract performance, including deliverables, milestones, pricing structures, and change orders, ensuring contractual obligations are met by internal teams and external partners 

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of cost and performance reporting 

  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes by providing operational cost analysis and performance trend insights 

  • Ensure alignment between operational performance outcomes and incentive programs by validating data used for short term incentive calculations and maintaining transparent reporting processes 

  • Lead and manage junior team members  

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decision-making at multiple organizational levels 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and deliver accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment 

  • Strong knowledge of contract management practices, including contract review, compliance monitoring, change management, and vendor performance oversight 

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing cost control, budget management, and financial performance analysis within a complex operational environment 

Qualifications

Required Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 11 years of relevant experience, or;
  • Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • In addition, a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience is required.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
