About this role:
MATTE is seeking a Director of Resourcing & Creative Operations to lead and evolve how we plan, allocate, and optimize our talent across an integrated mix of campaigns, content, and experiential work. This role sits at the center of the business—connecting Creative, Client Services, Production, and Project Management—to ensure we are resourced effectively, operating efficiently, and set up to deliver best-in-class work.
This role reports into the Project Management leadership function and works in close partnership with department heads across the organization.
Resourcing Strategy & Planning
- Own and lead the end-to-end resourcing function across all departments, including Creative, Production, Strategy, and Project Management
- Develop and implement scalable resourcing frameworks that balance capacity, utilization, and project needs across the business
- Partner with Client Services and Project Management to forecast upcoming work, identify gaps, and proactively plan staffing solutions
- Ensure the right talent is deployed against the right projects, aligning skillsets, seniority, and creative ambition
Creative Operations
- Build and refine operational workflows that support the Creative team from concept through execution
- Establish clear processes for prioritization, staffing, and workflow management across concurrent projects
- Drive visibility into timelines, overlaps, and team bandwidth to reduce bottlenecks and last-minute resourcing conflicts
- Partner with Creative Leadership to support team structure, growth planning, and performance optimization
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the central connector between Creative, Client Services, Production, and Project Management to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables
- Lead weekly resourcing and capacity meetings, ensuring accurate and up-to-date visibility across all active and upcoming work
- Create accountability across departments for maintaining accurate timelines, scopes, and staffing plans
Tools, Systems & Reporting
- Own and optimize resourcing and operational tools to ensure accuracy, usability, and scalability
- Develop reporting on utilization, capacity, burn, and forecasting to support business and financial decision-making
- Partner with Finance and Leadership to align resourcing decisions with budget, revenue, and profitability goals
Freelance & External Talent Management
- Oversee freelance and permalance strategy, including onboarding, allocation, and cost management
- Build and maintain a high-quality freelance network across key disciplines
- Ensure freelance resources are effectively integrated into teams and workflows
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 8–12+ years of experience in resourcing, operations, or project/production management within a creative agency, experiential studio, or similar environment
- Proven experience working within project management and resourcing tools (e.g., Airtable, Asana, Monday, Smartsheet, or similar). Experience with Airtable is a significant plus, particularly in building or optimizing resourcing and workflow systems
- Strong operational fluency in project management workflows, including scoping, timelines, capacity planning, and cross-functional coordination
- Experience working closely with or within Project Management teams; ability to align resourcing strategy directly to project plans and delivery needs
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to build systems, processes, and scalable frameworks from the ground up
- Deep understanding of creative workflows and how to support high-performing creative teams
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing utilization, forecasting, and budget alignment
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across senior stakeholders
- Ability to work on-site at our office in New York 4x days per week
Salary Range: base annual salary of $150,000-$170,000/year based on relevant experience
