About Chelsea Piers:
At Chelsea Piers you will find colleagues who are passionate about what we do. Careers at Chelsea Piers offer unmatched facilities and proven career growth opportunities for people who are passionate about transforming the lives of our community through sports, fitness, and event experiences. We also offer excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) matching; paid time off; transportation benefits; tuition assistance; a complimentary membership to Chelsea Piers Fitness; and other exciting venue benefits at Chelsea Piers.

About the Opportunity:

Chelsea Piers is seeking a Director of Sales & Hospitality to drive revenue growth at the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers across events, food & beverage (The Water Hazard), and membership. You’ll lead the teams behind each line and create the kind of welcoming, memorable experiences that keep guests coming back and bringing others with them.

You think in customer lifetime value. You know which experiences move the needle and where the upsell, resell, and cross-sell opportunities sit between a range visit, a drink, a corporate outing, and a membership. When growth needs investment, you make the case with a clear why and an expected return.

As the Director of Sales & Hospitality, you will be expected to:

Events

  • Partner with the central Chelsea Piers event sales team and lead the Golf Club events staff to capture, qualify, and convert event inquiries.
  • Own events sales and strategy, with an initial focus on corporate outings and private events.
  • Review and refresh event offerings and packages so they reflect what customers want. Identify new products and growth opportunities, expand self-booking for smaller events, and build in upsell options.
  • Streamline event operations, from booking handoff through setup, service, and breakdown.
  • Identify bay improvements (technology, layout, comfort, and in-bay F&B service) that elevate the overall guest experience.
  • Build a pipeline covering prospecting, proposals, packaging, pricing, and closing, and grow repeat and referral business.
  • Lead event staff to deliver flawless execution and turn event attendees into return guests and members.

Food & Beverage (The Water Hazard)

  • Own the P&L for the in-house bar and restaurant, including menu, pricing, labor, and cost of goods.
  • Build and manage the FOH and BOH staff schedule, matching labor to forecasted demand, events, and seasonality.
  • Maintain accurate food and beverage inventory, place weekly orders, and hold COGS to approved targets.
  • Hire, train, and hold accountable FOH and BOH staff and shift leads, with a focus on retention.
  • Create and enforce training materials, SOPs, side work, and cleaning schedules.
  • Lead pre-service meetings covering menu and beverage changes, tastings, and service standards.
  • Drive per-guest spend and the attachment of F&B to range visits, lessons, and events.

Membership

  • Audit the current membership program: who joins, why, what they use, and whether it supports or competes with our broader revenue goals.
  • Work with the General Manager to redesign and relaunch the program as needed, including tiers, benefits, and pricing, to meet overall revenue and Golf Club goals.
  • Actively sell and retain members. Move the function from order taking to consultative, proactive sales with clear conversion and renewal targets.

Guest Experience & Revenue Strategy (across all lines)

  • Build and run upsell, resell, and cross-sell plays that connect range, F&B, events, and membership.
  • Own the Golf Club CRM, including data quality, guest segmentation, and follow-up campaigns, working with the Chelsea Piers teams that use and support the CRM.
  • Partner with Golf Club leadership and shared services teams on club-wide and complex-wide revenue growth, pricing, and cross-sell and upsell initiatives.
  • Recommend investments in space, technology, menu, staffing, and amenities, each with a clear business case, expected return, and success measures.
  • Develop and support partnerships and sponsorships that drive traffic or revenue.

*This is not comprehensive list of responsibilities and can change at any time at the discretion of your supervisor.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years in hospitality, sports and entertainment, or club management, with at least 3 years leading multiple revenue lines or a multi-department team.
  • A proven record of growing revenue through direct sales, not just managing operations.
  • F&B leadership experience, including P&L ownership, labor management, and liquor compliance.
  • Experience selling corporate events and/or memberships with a consultative approach.
  • An obsession with guest experience, and fluency in using data (CRM, POS, booking systems) to drive decisions.
  • A track record of building teams people stay on. You’re hands-on when needed and strategic by default.
  • Comfort building a business case and presenting it to senior leadership.
  • NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate required, or obtained within 30 days of hire. Alcohol server training certification (ATAP) preferred.
  • Golf knowledge and passion are a plus, not a requirement.

Schedule + Compensation:

  • Full-time, on site at Chelsea Piers Golf Club. Evenings, weekends, and peak-season hours are required, including up to 6 days per week in season (April through September). This is an exempt (salaried) position. The role requires continuous standing and walking, frequent lifting and bending, and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
  • Base salary: $115,000 to $135,000 per year, based on experience.

  • Performance bonus: Target of 25% of base salary, with the opportunity to earn up to 40% of base for exceeding goals.

  • Total compensation: Target total compensation of $143,750 to $168,750, with earning potential up to $189,000.
