Job DescriptionThe Director, Social Media will be responsible for defining and executing the global social media strategy across all platforms to drive brand awareness and favorability, engagement, and business objectives. This role requires a leader who can manage and work across high-performing teams and external agencies, integrate social media efforts with broader marketing and commercial strategies, and stay ahead of emerging social trends and platform evolution.
Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Vision: Develop and champion a comprehensive, global social media strategy aligned with company business goals, marketing objectives, and brand identity. Identify and evaluate new and emerging social platforms, technologies, and trends to maintain a competitive edge.
Team Leadership Influence & Management: Build, grow and lead a social media team, including external agencies, content creators, analysts and more. Establish clear performance metrics and goals. Manage agency and vendor relationships for creative, content, paid media, and platform management.
Content Creation & Campaign Execution: Oversee the social content calendar and content strategy, ensuring high-quality, relevant, and engaging content. Direct the execution of social media campaigns, creative development, and brand initiatives.
Analytics & Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular, data-driven reports on social media performance, ROI, and impact on brand and business results to executive leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing functions, Communications, Product, Sales, and other teams to ensure social media efforts are integrated and consistent across all channels.
Budget Management: create and manage the social media functional budget, ensuring efforts, campaigns and initiatives are cost-effective and yield a positive return on investment.
12+ years of experience in social media marketing with a strong reputation as an expert. At least 8 years focused on leading social media strategy and execution for a major brand.
5+ years of experience in managing agencies and leading teams, including both direct reports and cross-functional teams and agencies.
Proven track record of leading, developing and executing successful, large-scale social media strategies. Leadership in driving innovation and complex initiatives
Deep expertise in current and emerging social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, etc.), best practices, and analytics tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex strategies to executive-level stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or equivalent experience; advanced degree or specialized certifications preferred.
