About the team and role

Customer Engineering

At GBG, our Customer Engineering organization sits at the intersection of technology, customer value, and commercial growth. As we continue to accelerate our North American expansion, we are building a world-class Solutions Engineering function that plays a critical role in helping organizations solve complex identity verification, fraud prevention, and data intelligence challenges.

The North American Solutions Engineering team is a high-performing group of technical consultants, trusted advisors, and problem-solvers who partner closely with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to drive customer outcomes and revenue growth. This team is instrumental in positioning GBG as a strategic partner to some of the region's most innovative organizations.

We are operating with the pace and ambition of a growth company, with North America serving as a key contributor to GBG's long-term vision of becoming a £1B revenue business. The team has established a strong foundation of success—consistently delivering market-leading proof-of-concept outcomes, accelerating customer time-to-value, and transforming the way we demonstrate and communicate the value of our solutions. Work Structure:
This is a remote position with a strong preference for candidates in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Travel for customer visits, team collaboration, and stakeholder meetings may be required (estimated up to 40%).

The Role - Director of Solutions Engineering

As Director of Solutions Engineering, you will lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers across North America, driving technical excellence throughout the customer lifecycle and enabling commercial success through strategic customer engagement. Partnering closely with Sales leadership, you will shape winning presales strategies, support complex enterprise opportunities, and ensure customers clearly understand the business value and impact of GBG's solutions.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of strategic vision, operational leadership, and customer-facing engagement. You will develop and coach top technical talent, establish presales best practices, and help evolve the function through the thoughtful adoption of AI-enabled tools, methodologies, and processes.

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of leading high-performing presales or solutions engineering teams, influencing executive stakeholders, and delivering results within fast-paced, growth-oriented technology organizations. Equally important is deep domain expertise within identity verification, fraud prevention, risk, financial services, payments, lending, banking, or adjacent regulated industries. Success in this role requires an understanding of the challenges these organizations face and the ability to position technical solutions that address complex business, operational, and regulatory needs.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous growth.
  • Drive the technical sales strategy across North America, guiding discovery, solution design, demonstrations, and customer evaluations.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership to align presales activities with revenue objectives and accelerate business growth.
  • Establish and scale best-in-class presales methodologies, processes, and tools to improve consistency, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and executive sponsor on strategic enterprise opportunities, helping customers solve complex identity, fraud, and data challenges.
  • Champion the adoption of AI-enabled practices and technologies to enhance team productivity, customer engagement, and technical differentiation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams to translate customer and market insights into future product innovation.
  • Leverage data and performance metrics to optimize technical win rates, evaluation success, deal velocity, and overall business impact.
  • Attract, hire, and retain top Solutions Engineering talent while building a scalable organization capable of supporting continued growth.
  • Serve as a key member of the Customer Engineering leadership team, helping shape the vision, strategy, and future direction of the function.

What You'll Bring
  • Proven success leading, coaching, and developing high-performing Presales or Proven success leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing Presales or Solutions Engineering professionals.
  • Proven experience within Identity Verification, Fraud Prevention, Risk, Financial Services, FinTech, Credit, or closely related technology markets.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Deep expertise in presales methodologies, technical discovery, solution positioning, and customer engagement.
  • Ability to serve as a strategic advisor to customers and internal stakeholders, influencing decisions at all levels.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging AI tools to increase productivity, enhance customer engagement, and improve technical evaluations.
  • Strong ability to bridge customer challenges, business objectives, and technical solutions.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, solve problems, and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, retain, and inspire top technical talent while building engaged, high-performing teams.
