What You'll Do

If you know the K-12 adoption landscape better than most and you thrive at the intersection of policy, product, and execution, this role was made for you. As Director, State Adoptions, you will set the strategic direction for how Edmentum shows up and wins in state markets across the country. You will lead a team of dedicated specialists, partner with stakeholders across every function of the business, and serve as the go-to authority on state requirements that shape our product roadmap and market growth.

In this role you will:

  • Own and drive Edmentum's full state adoption and approval strategy, managing multi-year adoption pipelines, curriculum and assessment submissions, and evidence packet development to deliver winning outcomes in competitive state markets.
  • Serve as the enterprise's leading voice on state education adoption policy, providing strategic insights and guidance to executive leadership that shape product investment and market positioning.
  • Build and sustain high-impact partnerships across Product, Sales, Legal, Marketing, and state and local departments of education to align programs strategy with product roadmap and revenue goals.
  • Design and continuously improve the operational systems, workflows, and tracking tools that enable the state programs team to execute at scale with precision and speed.
  • Lead, coach, and grow a talented team of state program specialists, building the organizational capability needed to keep Edmentum ahead in an ever-evolving regulatory and adoption landscape.
  • Turn adoption outcomes and market data into actionable intelligence, delivering post-adoption debriefs and competitive insights that directly inform product enhancements and future participation decisions.
Who You Are
  • You have a Bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree in Education, Public Policy, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • You have 10+ years of experience in K-12 education technology, curriculum publishing, or state policy, with at least 8 years of direct experience managing state adoptions, approvals, or government relations.
  • You have a demonstrated track record of leading complex, multi-state adoption submissions and navigating curriculum and assessment review frameworks such as HQIM, Quality Matters and other national clearing houses and state-specific rubrics.
  • You are deeply knowledgeable about K-12 academic standards, instructional design, and curriculum evaluation, and you know how to translate that knowledge into competitive submissions and product guidance.
  • You have built strong, trust-based relationships with state and local departments of education and understand how to navigate government and policy environments effectively.
  • You are a strong project and program manager who can juggle multiple high-stakes deadlines without missing a beat, applying Lean and Agile practices in fast-moving environments.
  • You are an exceptional communicator, both in writing and in person, with experience presenting to executive audiences and producing high-quality documentation for state and external stakeholders.
  • You are a proven people leader who knows how to build, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing team.
  • You are comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing without authority across Product, Sales, Legal, Marketing, and partner organizations.
  • You are analytically oriented, detail-driven, and energized by turning complex data and market signals into clear decisions and strategic recommendations.
  • You are willing to take on evolving responsibilities based on business needs.
