Birch Family Services is a leading New York City provider of education, employment, and community support services for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, with annual revenues just over $100 million. Birch delivers integrated services that help individuals achieve their goals across their lifespan.

 

We are currently seeking a Director of Talent Acquisition. This role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive talent acquisition strategies that attract, engage, and retain top talent across clinical, educational, administrative, and direct support professional positions. The Director will oversee all aspects of the recruitment lifecycle, build a high-performing talent acquisition team, and partner with organizational leaders to ensure staffing needs align with Birch Family Services' mission.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, hiring managers, and department heads regarding talent acquisition strategies and hiring decisions.
  • Collaborate with Education, Community Services and Clinical leadership to address staffing challenges and workforce development opportunities.
  • Develop strong partnerships with universities, community organizations, professional associations, and workforce development agencies.
  • Create and maintain recruitment metrics, dashboards, and reporting to evaluate effectiveness, time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, quality-of-hire, and retention outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, and other applicable requirements.
  • Optimize applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruitment technologies, and hiring processes to improve efficiency and candidate experience.
  • Strengthen Birch Family Services' employer brand through targeted recruitment marketing, social media engagement, and community outreach.
  • Provide direct recruitment for managerial roles and specialized jobs, oversee hiring processes for all administrative office and C-level vacancies.
  • Support recruitment team by leveraging social media and recruitment job board  (LinkedIn, Indeed, OLAS, etc.).
  • Manage all external recruiting relationships, including staffing agencies and temp agencies.
  • Develop and enhance the onboarding experience for all new employees.
  • Oversee and assist with career fair planning; represent Birch at internal and off-site events.
Qualifications

Experience:        

  • 8+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including 3-5 years in a leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or related area
  • Experience leading high-volume recruitment efforts within healthcare, education, human services, nonprofit, or related sectors preferred.
  • Demonstrated success building recruitment strategies, talent pipelines, and employer branding initiatives.
  • Experience managing applicant tracking systems and recruitment analytics (Paycom experience a plus).
  • Familiarity of NY State SED Certification requirements, PETS system, and DOI notices regarding criminal history, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements preferred.
