Job Description

The Director, US International Tax has a key role in the Tax Organization reporting to the Senior Director, Global Tax Strategy and Planning. This position will lead the US International tax provision and compliance functions and to provide support for M&A, tax controversies and complex commercial transactions from tax perspective.  The successful candidate will operate independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while building and maintaining strong working relationships across the organization and with external advisors. This position will be based in Santa Clara, California, USA.

What You Get To Do In This Role

  • Serve as a key member of the global tax leadership team.  Lead and oversee the US international quarterly and year-end tax provision process, including GILTI, FDDEI, BEAT, Subpart F, foreign tax credits (FTCs), Section 987, CAMT and other relevant areas.
  • Lead and manage the US international tax compliance processes (e.g., 5471, 8858, 8865, 8991, 8992, 1118), ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Draft and review tax memos related to tax positions taken and required disclosures; maintain audit-ready tax documentation and technical support materials.
  • Lead the team in developing advanced tax modeling capabilities.  Prepare complex tax modeling to project annual Effective Tax Rate (ETR) and cash tax impacts for corporate forecasting.
  • Champion an "AI-first" culture within the global tax team by driving continuous learning and upskilling initiatives. Partner closely with the cross functional stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, translate tax complexities into technical requirements, and support the rollout of modern, AI-driven workflows for US International tax provision and compliance processes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on US international tax rules and regulations.  Provide technical guidance to the Tax Team.
  • Managing tax controversy matters from US International tax perspective, including preparing and reviewing responses to tax authority information requests.
  • Support M&A and integration activities to identify, analyze and drive tax planning opportunities and value realization from acquisitions.
  • Provide support on tax planning projects, including preparing tax models to evaluate cross-border transactions, entity structures, and other strategic business projects.
  • Partner with Corporate Development, Finance, FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, HR, Operations teams and external tax advisors to support US international tax forecasting, M&A transactions and other business initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in domestic and international tax laws and regulations; assess their impact on the company and recommend proactive responses to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support ad hoc projects and special assignments as needed.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • CPA, JD, or equivalent professional certification required; MST, LLM, or additional advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and/or industry roles; experience with large U.S.-based multinationals or SaaS companies is strongly preferred.
  • Substantial and demonstrated experience with M&A tax due diligence, transaction structuring, pre and post-acquisition integration step planning, post-acquisition tax optimization, and tax remediation activities.
  • Proven technical expertise in multinational tax operations, tax provision and compliance, transfer pricing, tax planning, with M&A transaction experience.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. and global tax regulations, transfer pricing, tax provision, and compliance requirements; knowledge of acquisition and disposition structuring best practices.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, including experience with tax modeling.
  • Strong skills in tax research, technical analysis, and documentation to support and defend tax positions; ability to maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Solid project management skills and proven ability to manage internal and external relationships and advisor engagements effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to navigate ambiguity in complex tax matters.
  • Team player who builds strong working relationships across departments and demonstrates collaborative problem-solving.
  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $192,400 - $336,700, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
