Economic Crimes Analyst

RICHMOND COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
The men and women of the Richmond County District Attorney’s office work each day in partnership with Law Enforcement and the people of Staten Island to pursue justice for victims of crime, to prevent crime in all its forms, and to promote the safety and well-being of all citizens of our Borough.
THE DIVISON
The Economic Crimes Bureau prosecutes cases of fraud, grand larceny, wage theft, and many other financial crimes. This includes cases of entitlement fraud such as Medicaid or unemployment fraud, construction fraud including the prosecution of construction site fatalities, and theft of goods or services. Additionally, the Economic Crimes Bureau assists the office by seeking the forfeiture of funds which were earned via illegal activity. Some of these assets come back to our office, to be used in furthering the Office’s mission of preventing crime before it happens.
THE ROLE
Under the direct supervision of the Forensic Accountant, in close collaboration with other members of the RCDA team. The selected candidate will serve as an Economic Crimes Analyst; duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform analytical work in the compilation and examination of complex data in criminal investigations involving money laundering, larceny, and other financial crimes;
- Review and analyze information gathered during criminal investigations as well as utilizing complex databases and analytical software to prepare maps, charts, graphs, reports, spreadsheets and link analysis to support attorneys and law enforcement;
- Analyze statistical data to trace funds through a variety of accounts;
- The Economic Crimes Analyst may be called upon to testify in court regarding analysis performed during investigations;
- Ability to review voluminous financial records and to advise or assist in the investigation of alleged fraud.

PREFERRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, from an accredited college.
- Two to five years of relevant work experience in accounting or criminal justice-related fields.
- Highly self-motivated with exceptional organization skills and a proven ability to independently manage heavy workloads.
- Experience utilizing data analytics software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to evaluating complex financial data.
- Meticulous attention to detail while successfully meeting competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial findings clearly.
CIVIL SERVICE TITLE: Community Associate
SALARY RANGE: $55,000-$65,000 Commensurate with experience; full NYC benefits package

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
