We are looking for an Edifecs Developer to support mission-critical healthcare IT platforms used by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). You will play a key role in evaluating business requirements and designing. developing, and implementing solutions using Edifecs tools and electronic data interchange (EDI) standards. This includes working closely with internal business and technical teams to manage and enhance EDI transaction processes and healthcare-specific data transformations. Your expertise in Edifecs will be essential for ensuring accurate data mapping and seamless integration across cloud-based systems, ultimately improving the efficiency and reliability of our data exchange operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts to gather and refine requirements, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with project objectives.
  • Configure Edifecs tools, including XEngine, to process EDI transactions—establishing business rules, implementing custom error validations, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and trading partner specifications.
  • Design, update, and maintain EDI maps, profiles, and guidelines using Edifecs SpecBuilder and MapBuilder for standard HIPAA-compliant transaction sets (e.g., 837, 834, 835, 820, 277, 278, etc.).
  • Translate business and data requirements into standardized X12 formats for both inbound and outbound EDI transactions.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing and coordinate with QA teams to validate solution accuracy and reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to EDI transmission, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions promptly.
  • Integrate Edifecs solutions with external applications, databases, and middleware systems to enable seamless, automated exchange and accurate processing of X12 transactions across trading partners.
  • Provide post-implementation support, including applying updates and patches to maintain system performance and compliance with evolving standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and internal technical teams, facilitating effective communication and timely issue resolution.
