Job Description

AECOM is seeking a senior level Electrical Engineer for our Greenville, SC team.  Projects will be throughout the U.S., so the role can be worked remotely.

The Electrical Engineer works closely with site civil designers to coordinate equipment layouts, service entrances, conduit routing, grounding systems, and utility interconnections to deliver permit-ready and construction-ready electrical plans.  In this role, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing electrical infrastructure required to serve telecommunications and fiber network facilities, including fiber amplification huts and associated utility connections.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing three-phase power distribution designs
  • Coordinating electrical service requirements with utility providers
  • Preparing construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards. The Electrical Engineer works closely with site civil designers to coordinate equipment layouts, service entrances, conduit routing, grounding systems, and utility interconnections to deliver permit-ready and construction-ready electrical plans
  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
  • Providing specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Developing study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others
  • Participating in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Developing construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
  • Using expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package
  • Performing quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Providing input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
  • Travel occasionally to the sites or the office (approximately 5% travel)

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering and six (6) years of professional electrical engineering design experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD for building design
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the role
  • Valid US driver’s license 
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
  • Experience leading electrical design for multidisciplinary building projects
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
  • Working knowledge of NFPA and IEEE standards applicable to building and power systems
  • Familiarity with fiber and/or telecom industry
  • Experience performing power system studies using SKM (preferred), ETAP, or EasyPower
  • Experience with AGi32 or similar lighting analysis software
  • Familiarity with Procore or other construction administration platforms
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers and performing formal QA/QC reviews
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing communication
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to varying levels of complexity and definition
  • Ability/willingness to travel occasionally to the office or work sites as needed
