Position Summary:
The Electronics Test Technician – Final Test is responsible for performing functional, electrical, and performance testing on finished electronic products, including amplifiers, preamplifiers, CD players, and related components. This role requires the ability to follow detailed test procedures, configure and connect test equipment, load firmware, make electronic adjustments, and verify product performance using a variety of measurement instruments. The technician ensures all units meet defined electrical, functional, and quality standards prior to release.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Testing & Validation
- Execute final test procedures for electronic products, including amplifiers, preamplifiers, CD players, and other audio or electronic components.
- Connect units to appropriate test fixtures, loads, and instrumentation in accordance with test documentation.
- Perform functional and performance tests such as signal verification, frequency response checks, and output validation.
- Adjustment, Programming & Firmware
- Load and verify firmware or software as required per product specifications.
- Perform electronic adjustments including bias setting, calibration, and parameter tuning.
- Verify proper operation following adjustments or programming changes.
- Test Equipment Operation
- Set up and operate test equipment including oscilloscopes, frequency counters/readers, variacs, multimeters, and other electronic measurement devices.
- Interpret test results and waveforms to identify abnormal behavior or out-of-spec conditions.
- Troubleshooting & Rework Support
- Identify failures, isolate basic fault conditions, and document test results accurately.
- Perform limited troubleshooting and rework within defined scope, including component replacement or soldering, when qualified to do so.
- Escalate complex failures to engineering or repair technicians with clear documentation.
- Documentation & Quality Control
- Accurately record test results, serial numbers, and pass/fail status in production travelers or electronic systems.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and test specifications prior to product release.
- Maintain calibration awareness of test equipment and report any equipment issues.
- Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Follow all electrical safety procedures when working with energized equipment and high-voltage circuits.
- Maintain a clean, organized test station and comply with ESD requirements as applicable.
- Provide feedback on test procedures, fixtures, or documentation to improve efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in electronics or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience testing electronic equipment in a manufacturing or service environment.
- Basic working knowledge of electronic circuitry and signal flow.
- Proven experience using electronic measurement and test equipment, including oscilloscopes and frequency measurement devices.
- Ability to read and follow test procedures, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Soldering skills preferred; IPC certification a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to testing and documentation.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an electronics test environment with exposure to energized circuits, test equipment, and bench tools. Proper PPE and ESD controls must be used as required. The position may involve extended periods of standing or bench work and focused attention during testing operations.
