The Role
The Engineering Director, Data & AI role combines industry expertise and application knowledge with innovative business and technology solutions to help clients harness the value of information across the enterprise. 

The Engineering Director, Data & AI provides innovative thought, strategic guidance and technology expertise to help clients exploit information to its maximum potential and accelerate their journey to cloud-based models with specific focus around data governance, modernization and programmability, including AI (and GenAI). Taking a business-outcome centric perspective, the Engineering Director, Data & AI differentiates Presidio’s ability to deliver tangible business results through the generation of actionable strategies and to enable the customer to transform and utilize the benefits of modernizing their data, application, and infrastructure assets in a secure and compliant manner. 

The Engineering Director, Data & AI will be responsible for supporting the field sales teams and interacting with the National Practices to identify and engage clients to generate sales opportunities across the Presidio solutions portfolio, with particular emphasis around Data Solutions.  This role will build credibility and challenge traditional client thinking to roadmap a long-term vision vs. concentrating on short-term initiatives. The Engineering Director, Data & AI will provide thought leadership for the client’s CTO, enterprise architects, application developers, engineering and operations teams.

Travel Requirements:

In this role you will be expected to travel up to 50%. It will be based in any location in the United States with preference in the Western Region.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key client decision makers and influencers:
    • CTO, CIO, CDO, CISO, CSO
    • Enterprise architects and IT leads
    • Application development teams
    • Senior management in procurement, operations and engineering
  • Build and maintain relationships with the Presidio sales organization in support of sales objectives:
    • Sales Leadership and management
    • Field Sales AM, Client Directors, Sales VPs
    • National Practice BDM, SPL, EA Teams
    • Local Presales SA and CSA Teams
  • Participate in sales planning activities such as QBRs and detailed account reviews
  • Proactively plan and contact existing clients and prospects independently or alongside Presidio sales
  • Find and qualify sales opportunities, gathering initial technical requirements, competitive threats, decision making requirements and funding approval
  • Present and market the technical design and business value of the Presidio Solutions Portfolio
  • Participate in development of messaging/branding standards for Presidio solutions portfolio, including National Practices – Focus primarily on Data Solutions and AI with supporting role for Cloud, Managed Services, EUC/Microsoft, Strategic Consulting, Cyber, Emerging
  • Garner and grow key relationships with vendor partners – both technical and sales. This includes thorough understanding and participation of the Partner Programs:
    • Presidio Partner brand and standing (Partner status, accolades, awards)
    • Funding Programs and technical support (implementation and operational)
    • Pricing, Discounting programs, and procedures
    • Content access – presentations, enablement/training, sample deliverables
    • Specialized programs (i.e. Vmware Ignite, Microsoft Lighthouse, etc)
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional associations
  • Research and communicate technology, industry and market trends to internal and external clients
  • Research competitive proposals and solutions to effectively address client objections
  • Enable and train internal presales and field sales teams on industry trends and disruptions supporting their GTM success and relevance to clients
  • “Land and Expand” new and existing accounts with pipeline activity generation across the Presidio Solution Portfolio not currently in deployed within the client organization. These opportunities comprise of the following:
    • Data Governance & Usage – ML/AI techniques, Data Management, Analytics/Visualization
    • App Modernization – Rationalization, Cloud Native Appdev, CI/CD, Mobile, DevSecOps
    • Cloud Integration (Hybrid/Edge) – Cloud Adoption Frameworks, Migration Planning
    • Datacenter Modernization (HCI, Observability/AIOps, Infrastructure as Code/AO)
    • Modern Digital Workspace (SaaS, EUC, Collaboration, Employee Experience, Identity)
    • Workload Management – APM, Service Management, ITSM
    • Identity Access and Governance – Federation, Access Brokering, Consolidation (AD)
    • Consumption Management - AWS, Azure, Office365, GCP

Required Skills and Professional Experience:

  • Consulting & presales experience.
  • Demonstration of Leadership and strong executive presence and soft skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Depth of Industry Context and Solutions knowledge
  • Understanding of Business Process and Digital Disruption

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • Overall 10+ years of Data, Software, Cloud, or AppDev solution development experience
