The International engineering team's mission is to expand Robinhood's products globally and scale our platform to support millions of new customers in diverse markets. We build and maintain experiences across onboarding, funding, account setup, localized product experiences, growth incentives, and platform capabilities to operate in new jurisdictions. Our engineering team partners closely with product, design, compliance, marketing teams, along with an array of platform engineering teams to launch new products and optimize user acquisition globally. We prioritize technical rigor, system reliability, and quick execution to deliver reliable products to our growing customer base. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of software developers to drive some of Robinhood’s most important international launch initiatives. You will be responsible for driving the architecture and execution required to launch crypto and other financial products in new regions, while shaping the reusable systems that make future launches faster, safer, and more scalable. You will guide technical execution, review system architectures, and ensure our services remain highly performant and secure at scale. In this role, you will recruit, mentor, and support the career progression of engineers on your team. You will work closely with product managers, compliance partners, and other team leads to define technical strategy and deliver features on schedule. Your leadership will directly shape how we scale our platform and deliver a reliable financial experience to our global community!

This role is based in our New York, NY office, with in-person attendance expected 5 days per week. What you’ll do
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and support your team of developers, providing clear goals, regular feedback, and structured growth plans.

  • Technical Strategy: Define technical direction and prioritize work with product managers and partner teams to scale our international products and systems.

  • Architecture & Performance: Ensure backend services and localized products are designed for high availability, performance, and security.

  • Talent Management: Manage hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations for engineers on your team.

  • Collaboration & Execution: Coordinate with product, design, and other engineering leads to deliver critical initiatives on schedule and meet defined business metrics.

What you bring
  • Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years of experience managing engineering teams.

  • Product Shipping Experience: Proven experience leading collaborative teams across product, design, and engineering to ship complex products, including end-to-end management from concept to launch, and ensuring high-quality, reliable user experiences post-deployment.

  • Systems Design: Experience designing and operating distributed systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.

  • Project Delivery: Experience delivering complex technical projects from initial planning through execution and deployment.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and business partners to explain technical decisions and trade-offs.

  • Mentorship: Experience supporting team development through regular coaching, mentoring, and feedback.

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
