Engineering Manager - Poe Platform (Remote)

This role will be working on our Poe product.

The mission of the Platform team is to enhance developer productivity by building foundational systems, frameworks, tools, and abstractions that enable product teams to deliver faster and with greater confidence. Our focus areas include testing frameworks for reliable and scalable code validation, CI/CD pipelines to streamline robust deployments, and developer environments that are easy to set up, consistent, and efficient. By eliminating friction in the development process, we empower teams to achieve faster iteration and feedback cycles. Our goal is to be a trusted partner in accelerating software delivery.

As the manager of the Poe Platform Team, you will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and collaborate across functions to deliver high-quality solutions. You'll define team roadmaps aligned with business goals while fostering an inclusive and innovative engineering culture.

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing platform engineering team by fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning

• Drive initiatives to improve developer velocity by streamlining workflows and reducing friction

• Uphold and drive high standards for best engineering practices across Poe teams

• Leverage the latest AI tools to enhance team productivity

• Define and align the team’s roadmap with organizational goals

• Establish processes for operational efficiency and reliability

• Guide technical design discussions and long-term strategy

• Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

• 8+ years in software engineering with proficiency in programming languages like Python and JavaScript

• 2+ years of experience managing engineers, fostering their growth and professional development

• Proven experience in designing and scaling systems that enhance developer workflows, such as CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and automation tools

• Proven ability to manage complex projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver scalable, high-quality technical solutions on time

• Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• A proactive mindset with a passion for tackling challenges, improving processes, and driving engineering excellence

• Hands-on experience with AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs, including integrating AI/ML solutions into engineering systems

• Passion for Quora’s mission and a strong interest in advancing Poe through technical innovation

• In-depth experience with modern container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform)

• Familiarity with designing and maintaining highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant systems for developer platforms

• Dedication to keeping up with emerging technologies and trends in platform engineering, AI, and related fields

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.

• US candidates only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $183,647 - $267,615 USD + equity + benefits.

• Canada candidates only: For Toronto and Vancouver based applicants, the salary range is $237,868 - $277,302 CAD + equity + benefits. For all other locations in Canada, the salary range is $222,010 - $258,816 CAD + equity + benefits.
