We’re looking for a leader who understands that the success of complex rail systems depends on both the big-picture strategy and the disciplined execution of the smallest technical details. If you bring deep expertise in systems engineering and systems assurance and know how to guide teams through complexity with rigor and confidence, we’d like to hear from you.

Parsons has an exciting career opportunity for an Engineering Manager – Systems Assurance to support and grow our expanding Rail Systems business in North America, with a focus on the New York/New Jersey market. In this role, you will help sustain and strengthen our core capabilities in systems engineering, systems assurance, and client consultation across major rail transportation projects.

You will lead and support multidisciplinary teams delivering complex rail programs involving a broad range of systems, including train control, passenger communication systems, traction power systems, and rolling stock. This role requires strong systems integration capability, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to work effectively across technical disciplines and stakeholder groups.

The position calls for a strong foundation in formal Systems Engineering principles, as well as the ability to conduct detailed design and technical reviews of products and system submittals, particularly for Advanced Train Control Systems from leading industry suppliers. Familiarity with RF communications, conventional block signaling, and Positive Train Control is important to success in this role.

As a technical leader in Systems Assurance, you will be responsible for guiding project teams through critical safety, reliability, availability, and maintainability activities across rail systems including train control, communications, and vehicles. You will help define Systems Assurance objectives for large projects, identify key risks and issues, and develop practical solutions using a consistent and rigorous methodology.

The role will also involve leading important elements of System Safety Assurance, including the application of industry best practices, relevant standards, and analytical methods such as Hazard Identification and Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and Software System Safety Assurance. You will work with stakeholders at multiple levels to establish and implement comprehensive assurance programs that support project delivery and client expectations.

You will interpret user and operational requirements and assess their impact on safety and system design, particularly in areas such as operations, maintenance, training, and commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in electrical/ mechanical engineering or relevant discipline

  • We’re seeking a candidate with 15+ years of related experience in rail systems, systems engineering, systems assurance, or a closely related field.

  • The ideal candidate will bring expert knowledge of Systems Engineering practices in accordance with , including related plans, processes, and tools such as .

  • Demonstrated experience delivering or supporting Reliability and Safety programs, including work aligned with CENELEC standards.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders across a range of technical and management backgrounds.

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity, along with the ability to mentor, develop, and inspire both individuals and teams.

  • The role also requires flexibility and willingness to travel to client offices and project sites as needed.

Preferred Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer credential or CSEP Certification.

  • Master’s in Engineering

Salary Range: $134,100.00 - $241,400.00
