English to French - Legal (Judiciary) Translator and /or Editor

Provide freelance English-to-French legal translation and editing for a U.S. government judiciary client. Responsibilities include translating or editing legal content using accurate U.S. legal terminology, applying CAT tools and Trados, maintaining strong organization and communication, and completing on-demand assignments during U.S. Eastern Time hours.
This is a remote position.

Global Language Strategies is seeking a qualified freelance linguist to provide English-to-French legal translation and/or editing services for a United States Government client. This is an ongoing, as-needed contract opportunity for experienced professionals with strong legal terminology skills, excellent written accuracy, and the ability to deliver high-quality work remotely.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of professional experience providing legal translation and/or editing services.
- Native-level French and English writing skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. legal, judicial, and technical terminology in English and French.
- Bachelor’s degree in a foreign language, linguistics, translation, or a comparable field.
- Experience using computer-assisted translation tools; Trados experience is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
***Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be willing to complete security clearance processing, including fingerprinting, if selected.
Candidates should generally be available between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on most weekdays and able to accept on-demand assignments totaling approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, as needed.
